nothing new has popped up here in the last couple of days. Can I bug ya with some more newbie filler?

What is it in Lindy Hop when it looks like a Lindy Circle, but the couple has more of a sweeping turn together? He brings her in from fan position, and they stay closed for at least a 180 degree clockwise rotation. They don't maneuver to side-to-side position like a Lindy Circle. Usually, he concludes this by sending her out with the momentum, which means he kinda sends her back out to his right and turning leftward keeping his left hand connected to her right. Is this "Basket Whip"? What is the recommended stepping pattern for it? Step, step, step, step, step, step, step, step?

My answers to my questions are:

no, that's not the Basket Whip. Basket Whip is a swingout with cuddle position instead of closed position during 3&4.

It is actually a Lindy Circle. It just doesn't end side by side.

Since it is a Lindy Circle, the recommended stepping pattern is step, step, triple-step, step, step, triple-step.

Did I get it right?

The same one as done in WCS?

I don't think I've seen it done in Lindy.

I don't know if anyone ever does a Lindy Hop reconstruction of Basket Whip. It could be done though. I figured out what Basket Whip was from a European Jive web site, but I also saw it in some WCS demo video. Yeah, it's WCS, but that wouldn't exclude it from a potential Lindy Hop counterpart.

Yes it is done in Lindy Hop.

For the record a Lindy Circle that ends in closed position is not a variation, but the "original" version, the side by side version done for transition to Charleston is the variation.

Another :?:,

Is the lindy circle different from the throwout or the same?

My understsanding (which you can all correct):
Swing-out: starts out in closed position, ends in open position.
Lindy circle: starts out in open position, ends in closed position.
Whip patterns: starts out in open position, ends in open position.

Change the whip to include the words lindy-turn (the original term) and swing out (this word now refers to both going from closed to open, and open to open in this manner).

A throw out or send out are six counts or eight count steps that reverse the direction of a swing out.

You start in closed and take the step-step with trhe leaders body prepping the rotation, during the first triple the leader rotates counterclockwise, in a six count version the leader release the follower in this triple-step, in an eight count they release the follower on the step-step. The second triple step is usede to regulate distance between partners and prep the direction for the next move.

I had a feeling that the clockwise one could be done as 6 or 8 counts also. So the Throwout brings her in on 1, 2 with a change of direction in closed for 3 & 4 (plus 5 and/or 6 for an 8 count version). Is there a name for this when it's done without the change of direction?

It starts and ends in fan position like a swingout does, but it's different. He has her continue moving out to his right, so her direction means he has to turn leftward to stay connected.

Maybe it's a swingout that either stays closed through 5 and/or 6 for an 8-count, or it's a swingout that just sweeps the 3&4 around in a tighter, faster rotation for a 6-count.

For a throwout, should I bring her in easier since I'm gonna switch to counterclockwise when she meets me for 3 & 4? For sweeping her on around clockwise in closed position, bringing her in during the 1, 2 would be more accelerated, right?

If anyone's interested in shifting gears... I see guys set up to do an accelerated left side pass. The girl almost always seems to stumble all the way through the pass (in other people's videos). Is she really supposed to jog through it like that?
