Just out of curiousity: For everyone here who has done any kind of public performance, what is the largest audience you've performed for? And was it dance related or something else? I'm attaching a poll too.

Well, depends what you're talking about. In choirs, I've performed for...actually, I'm not sure. It was the opening ceremony for the 2000 olympic. Doesn't really count though, given there were a few hundred of us. On piano, 12 000. Speaking, 1000. Musical theatre, 1000. Acting, a few hundred. Dancing, not very many. Three-four hundred at most.

Dancing and speaking it has only been in the hundreds. When I was in college marching band it was ~112k, but there were 192 of us.

Big Christmas party at my old franchise studio. Might have been 150-200 peeps there. Felt the same as with 50. I think it was more the place rather than the number of people that made a difference.

Is this the number of people at the beginning or at the end of the performance?

I danced in a show at a theater that had 550 seats and was sold out. I did a foxtrot number with one of my old teachers.

Marching band would be my top too, several thousand (10? 20? no clue) at Columbus day parade in Chicago. Few hundred in musical theatre, maybe 200 at a comp, and who knows how many actually watched me. :D

The biggest group I have danced for was a convention at Vail. The convention was non-dance related. So we did a demo and it was kind of fun.

1600 people, Theatre Mogador, Paris.
But I was not alone on the stage, we were maybe 18 couples.

I sang at the talent show on a couple of different cruises. I know there was over 500 people, maybe 1000 at one of them.

What does televised count as?
(Extra in the Disney Christmas/DWTS parade this year... the live audience was several hundred I think... but I would guess many more watched on TV :) )

I danced at two salsa congresses where there were more than 600 people in the audience those nights, but I wish I could change my vote, because I remember now singing the national anthem with my choir in a packed stadium. There were way over 1000 there.

In Prague city theatre, we did so-called 5 dance show, not sure how many seats there, maybe 1000-2000, need to ask my ex-partner...nice venue, audience enthusiastic but most of them not ballroom dancers or someone understands ballroom dancing...good experience for us, just bad they strictly prohibit photography or videography...
