Most of you reading and responding to threads are probably USA Dance Amateurs/Pro's but i have a few NDCA amateur comp questions.
The only reason why i want to do NDCA Amateur is because it is a local
- good opportunity for first comp - for us.
I checked the NDCA guidebook and found the following :
PROFICIENCY CLASSIFICATIONS
Competition proficiency categories may be offered as follows:
1. Syllabus. Restricted to “medalist” level figures
(Bronze, Silver, Gold, Novice Bronze, Novice Silver, Novice Gold, Etc).
2. Novice. Open Syllabus.
What does "open syllabus" as in point 2 mean ? The comp only offers
international standard novice for syllabus dancers, probably a very, very
small amateur comp.
3. For “Syllabus” competitions competitors must wear “Syllabus” Dress.
Would dancing novice (no actual syllabus offered at comp) be a syllabus comp ?
If i understand this guidebook correctly, i have to wear a cocktail dress in any case since i am a syllabus dancer ?
For this cocktail dress, could this be a ballgown pattern with just no rhinestones/decorations like in the pattern that Laura is/was going to sew with us ? Probably stretching the definition of cocktail dress a bit... no ? If the schedule will allow, i want to use the same dress to compete pro-am newcomer/bronze at this comp.....possible ? (no rules on the comp website)
