Last night I was googling anything dance related (as you do  ) and I came across a dance studio that offers a social night of progressive dancing.... I was itching to dance, because it had been a whole 14hrs since I was in a class
So I thought well why not give it a go? The only progressive dance I have done is the Evening 3 Step.
So I roped my mum into babysitting and me and my ever willing (and patient!) sister headed over.

Well I tell you what! I dont ever recall having so much fun dancing dances that I didnt know! I sat out ONE dance the entire night. I suppose it helped a great deal that the men outnumbered the ladies
By the end of the night I had learnt 7 dances that I didnt know and I wasnt that bad at tem either
The people were amazing too..the place is very beginner oriented. They get you up even if you have no idea what you are doing and everyone happily talks you through the steps as you move around the circle.
It was great!

I think I will have to lose my ShyDancer tag shortly........ I even braved a Tangoette! (That is a big thing for me because ...well lets just say I suck at it! The swivels confuse me no end :? ) And the best bit was that my sister told me I looked like I knew what I was doing!

Ok that went a little bit longer than it probably should have!
Im just so excited by it! Cant wait till next week now!

Excellent, good on you! Being thrown in the deep end is the best way to test your metal. You either sink or swim. Looks like you're swimming along OK! :D

What is Evening 3 Step?

Its a New Vogue dance. You repeat the same set of steps throughout the entire song switching partners after each set. Its similar to the way Rueda works , minus the caller :D

Here is a link that explains the Evening 3 Step http://www.dancesport.org.au/newvogue/eve3step.html

Hmm, that sounds like the venues where I go...the women rarely sit since there's too many leads. Of course, in those rare cases when there's more women, I never sit for very long either! :D

This sounds more like the circle dances they do in country/western. In Miami, they used to do the Wild,Wild West and the Rutin', Tutin', Mountain Stomp a few years ago. I don't know if that kind of dancing was common anywhere else.
