I don't know if there is a "Did they Really do that" :shock: thread but I just show something on television that has me in shock/horror :lol:

Am watching a music channel and they just played a song, called "Salsa". It is of hiphop style, the musicians/singers are dressed as Mexicans with the large hats :shock: the lyrics include the word salsa AND they have a bottle with the word salsa on it :shock: It looks like a tabasco bottle :oops: :lol:

I think the Cha Cha Slide song is a masterpiece compared to this :shock: Oh my! Where's my smelling salts :headwall:

Do you mean the song by D12 (the Dirty Dozen) , what's it called? "My Band," I think? I know the end does have several references to salsa. I haven't seen the video, but I'll keep an eye open for it.

The song is tongue in cheek, btw. Not that that's less offensive to salsa people. It's Eminem and a bunch of other hardcore rappers doing a spoof of people who become stars and develop inflated egos. Rock stars and salsa stars are both being laughed at equally.

I've gotta keep an eye open for the video, and let you know what I see.

Oh yeah. I knew you were kidding, peach. But if people in the video are running around doing salsa in sombreros, that is kind of offensive, or ignorant, at least. Um. Salsa is Cuban or Puerto Rican, or Newyorican, or lots of things. But it's not Mexican.

Oh ok. If that's the one, there is no salsa dancing at all. They're talking about salsa as in "condiment". It is pretty funny. Especially, the part when guys spoofs 50 Cent's video. :) Pacion, is this the one you were talking about?

I've never seen the video, so I have no idea, Pacion. From the lyrics, I coulnd't tell what kind of salsa they were talking about -- the dancing kind, or the tomatoes and chilis kind. :oops: :lol:
