Ooh yeah, I wouldn't miss this one for the world. A lot of good dancers and the sights and sounds of Paris.

I'm jealous--I'm longing to go to an international congress. I hear very good things about them. I'm kind of burnt out on the usual suspects stateside (and I haven't even been to that many).

Take the plunge!! They party really hard in places like Paris and Israel. I did Puerto Rico, London, New York and a few others last year. I had the most fun with the Euros.

I had a better time than at the NY, PR or UK Congresses. I had ZERO bad dances. The attendees were very friendly. I even went to a regular spot, Barrio Latino, during the day on Sunday and had a great time. The people were great. Danced during the day, at the Festival, and at the after parties. I basically need to take a week off to recoup.
I only had the energy to see a few performances. Juan Matos was very good as was Falco. There were some others that looked good too, but I was too busy socializing and checking out potential social dances. Lots of eye-candy as well. All my dances were On2 except for 1, but the On1 dance was very cool too.
The last day was too hot in the venue, but Friday and Saturday were good. My hotel was a block away from a supermarket and we had a kitchen so that was cool. Also, the experienced Congress goers had food for days in their rooms so I crashed a few fridges.
I saw the hotel that Amanda Estilo and some other performers stayed in and it was a dump so you have to pick your hotel wisely. In general, the hotels didn't seem to be as nice as what we are used to.
The music all weekend was very good. I would do this event again for sure. In fact, I plan to do less US congresses and more international events in the future. Also, I could see myself hanging out in Paris and going dancing at the regular venues without there having to be a major event. Hope this helps.

Make that two of us! Speaking of international salseros, I had an on2 experience that you all might appreciate. So I am still in Florence, and dancing in this little bar. Had one or two okay dances (well, the last guy stunk--literally and figuratively) before I start rocking out with a really good dancer on1. We dance lots of times, when this guy in the corner catches my eye doing shines on the floor. He asks me something in Italian (I have NO idea of what he is saying) and then he asks me those magic words: Do you want to dance on 2? I think I had a tear in my eye. LOL He was a great dancer by the way--it turns out he had just gotten back from NYC and took some classes with Frankie and Eddie. The world is awfully small, is it not? (I am trying to get him to come to the Chicago Congress next year.)
Back to the international congresses: I would love to go to Paris, but I do not speak French, and I have been struggling in Italy--my Spanish does not help a lick! I would definitely be interested in going to one, so some of us should get together and split the hotel costs!

<-- thoroughly jealous #3
so in terms of international sights, this fest is now definitely on the radar. ive also got the mediterranean salsa congress there, along with UK's mambocity congress and Italy's Capodanno Beach (for NYE) if it's still going on.
