I was thinking, based on the threads about leading and leading off-count and being too rough and too soft.

What about designing an android dance instructor?

You've seen the Terminator movies--those moments when the Terminator has to respond to things people say and you get to see it from his android perspective--possible responses, then he chooses one.

Couldn't you do the same thing with teaching people how to lead? If the android had a respectable array of different responses to various attempts to lead, and other potential problems on the dance floor like wandering hands and too close for comfort? What would your ideal android do?

Hmm... that's sounds like a bad idea... almost as bad as the "blow-up dance instructor doll."

And like many bad ideas, its already been done[1]. Dancing robot (http://www.irs.mech.tohoku.ac.jp/research/RobotPartner/dance.html)

I don't know if she's programmed to slap your face if you touch her, um, undercarrige though.

[1]Actually I don't know wether its a bad idea or not. 's gotta be better than a broomstick, and it would be an interesting bit of research.

Shouldn't this thread be in "Funstuff & Inspirations"?

Holy cow! It's for real! I was thinking of a parody, you know, like Artie-staire's New Lindy3000. Artie-staire, bringing you quality dance instruction at affordable prices for 100 years.
