necklace over collar

Hi everyone,

Do you think it is 'too much' to wear a big sparkly necklace/choker/piece of jewelry over the collar of a dress. I have a dress where the body part comes all the way up to the neck, kind of like a leotard with a small collar so any necklace I wore would be sitting over the material. Just wondering if I should leave it and not wear one and if necklaces are only for open-collar or bare skin. But I feel the dress needs something there. Has anyone done this?

continued...:) also it is a Latin dress that has many crystals towards the bottom of the body of the dress but at the top they are not the sparkly kind so it sparkles less at the top which is why I want to wear a piece of jewelry..

I think okay to wear a necklace if no spark at top, although I don't think it could be wrong if you just leave it. but the color of necklace better match with the color of stones at the bottom of the dress

It has 3 colors of stones on the bottom, I was thinking as long as the necklace is one of those three colors it would look ok. I hope it looks the way I am picturing it!

Personally, I don't think a necklace over collar is a good look but that's just me. If I were in your position, I would try to stone the top more to make it more sparkly rather than put a necklace over it...

I had a latin dress with a mock turtleneck, and tacked a rhinestone collar onto it so that it wouldn't move around. Under normal circumstances I would stone it instead, but there wasn't time, and I already had the collar. Do you have pics of the dress and the necklace in question?

I think you need to worry more about security/safety than the look in this case. Do you think the necklace will stay during wild jive?

If I were in your position, I would try to stone the top more to make it more sparkly rather than put a necklace over it...I would agree...I would hesitate about putting a necklace over a collar. Instead, I would heavily stone the collar.

Hi thanks for the replies, I did consider stoning the collar more, but it already has stones on it, ,lots but not AB and so I was thinking of the collar necklace or removing the stones and putting on ones that I like better. Still thinking about this one as I would have time. I don't have a picture as I have lent it to someone and now she wants to buy it from me, so am now considering that or keeping it. I would keep it if I can fix this issue at the top because I really feel it needs something there. Also what a great tip about attaching the necklace to the dress if you do wear one. I never knew about that (like the braid)
