Here's an interesting question to go along with the "Where were you born" thread. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? And why?

I voted for the beach, not not necessarily, literally the beach. I love water so as long as I can see it from my windows, with perhaps a little forest near by, and smell the fresh air, I don't mind. I am not fussy  Oh, I also *require* easy access to the city

Beach, beach, beach!!!
If there's dancing around all that m,uch better, but even if not I can always put on some music and dance on the deck... and what could be beteer than dancing on the beach? :D

Sleeping with the windows open so you can hear the beach in your dreams. I vote for beach too. 8)

I'd go for beach too--my first choice would probably be Southern California. Loooooove Santa Monica! Second choice--Hawaii. Are there any Hawaiian dancers on DF? I understand they have a very nice dance and theatre scene.
Third choice--Venice. Just for the gondolas.
Being an unregenerate male trinitarian, I was limited to three options!

I used to live by the beach and spent most of my waking hours there...jogging, doing MA and just being. I really do miss it these days...one of the reasons I don't think I could move to a location with no oceans nearby.
I'm not much for big cities...but there isn't a lot of dancing in small towns. I think where I am is just fine...but trying to afford a home in this area is nearly impossible...the prices have really skyrocketed in recent years. :?
I don't know if I could move to So Cal though...however I spent a few days in Encinitas/Carlsbad some years back...and I must say I thought that it was a pretty nice area. Other than that, I've thought about moving to Arizona...but I can't stand places where smoking is allowed indoors...awful, just plain awful! :x
Hawaii is beautiful...but when I was vacationing there I just couldn't get over the fact that I was on a big piece of pumice in the middle of nowhere. Visit yes, live...no way!

The Beach for me too!
But I mean right on the beach! Id build a house in the sand if it wouldnt collapse
Given, I only live 30 minutes from the beach, its just not the same as living right there.
Im your typical Aussie beach bum! Love the water :D :D
Im lucky, Im close enough to the beach but there are lots of places to dance at!

Then there's always dancing on the beach--to the Beach Boys, of course!

Agree. We are lucky here 8) !
Why don't you guys move over here....? Houses are still affordable (ok, maybe not the REAL beach front ones)!

It's very tempting that. Could you help us find jobs? Like maybe herding wallabees or whatever?

Hmmm... brother has beach/oceanview house in Los Angeles, so I don't have to worry about that. For me, I like where I live, though it is about 3 hours to mountains and 2 hours to the beach, depending on which beach.

It's off the topic of "where", but I'd like to add dreamhome description and it would be "one that's paid for!" LOL! A subheading of that would be "one where things are not continuously having to be fixed!"
dancing around in my fixer-upper

Okay--as long as we're talking about the house itself. I definitely want a ballroom for private dance parties--no more than 200 guests!

Beach it is for me too . . . love the ocean! 8)
I lived on an island for just over eight years, and when I rolled out of bed, I was half-way into the water . . . daylight was about 10 hours . . . the weather never got above 86, nor dropped below 77.
Shorts, sandals, tank-tops was my daily attire (for women, it was short-shorts, a colorful bikini top, and sandals) . . . :D
I played golf, went scuba diving and snorkling just about everyday . . . and danced on weekends.
I never wanted to leave, but alas, I did!

Monaco if money was no object. I haven't been there yet, but what I've read or seen on TV, it's looks fantastic. I loved Paris which would be my next choice. My mother was in Monaco and agreed it was probably the nicest place she has ever seen. She lives on the ocean in Florida now which is nice. I really fell in love with Kauii , but it is very small but you can jet off to the other islands when you need a change. In the continental US, the place that comes to mind is Sausolito, CA (across the Golden Gate bridge). I'm on the water now in Michigan. Beautiful in the summer.

I don't feel the need to live on the beach, just see, smell and hear the water!
I have to move house in the next few weeks. Went to see a possible new place today (a huge complex) there is a fountain with ducks in the gardens nearby, which I would have to walk through to get to the apartment, if I take it   I want to move there like yesterday! :D
