Scary and exciting news guys: tonight at my ballroom class I signed myself up for my first ever dance competition! So my "social" dancing is soon to become "competitive" dancing - gulp! I've been dancing for nearly 2 years now and I've done medal tests (I'm up to Bronze Bar this year) but they don't count since you're only competing against yourself in those. :)
The comp is being held in Wellington on May 1st, so wish me luck! I'll be doing a Waltz, Jive and Evening Three Step - which, for you non-antipodeans out there, is a New Vogue dance. :? New Vogue is a style of sequence dancing pioneered in Australia in the 1930s and is hugely popular here Down Under. But you guys are all dancers so you probably knew that already right?
This competiton will be fairly small-scale I think, and I'm just doing it for the experience really - "for fun", I guess you could say, if it wasn't so damn terrifying! I'm sure many DF folks have done competitions before - do you have any advice or suggestions for me? :?:
