My ballet teacher told me I'm not jumping high enough in fifth position. What can I do? After about 4 jumps my calf hurts

jlevine, this site is primarily for partner dancing, such as ballroom or swing. If you head over to our sister site though, there's a big section on ballet, and I'm sure someone there will be able to help you.

Definitely check out the other site because it does have a ballet section but - just a thought - your strength and power to jump should be coming from your thigh muscles, not your calves.

Well, in West Coast swing, we don't jump.
And in Lindy, the only foot positions we know is on the floor and straight up in the air.

I do believe that etp777 clued right in on the dance being ballet.
