Borrowing from the "Spontenous Dancing in Public" (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=3023) thread, have you ever danced SOBER on top of a table or bar?

If you haven't, why not?

Why?
The better question -- at least to my way of thinking -- is why not?

Duly noted... and I still say why not is the better question!

Okay, I will live dangerously this time, so will edit the original post accordingly

I'm with SD on this one, why not?

Also, please note: At ballroom socials, they don't appreciate dancing on the tables ;)

It's not so much underappreciated as inconvenient. You'd need a reeeeeeally long table preferably encircling the room.

... Even for the latin dances...

Hmm, I've never danced on a table before...but I think that's something I should try...but I crash into them all the time at my regular Salsa venue. What can I say...our dance floor is SMALL! :P

You gotta love how SD avoids direct questions, and then answers with another question! You'd make a fine Zen Monk my friend. :D

A) Given that I did cast my vote in the poll, did I really avoid the question though?

B) As any good teacher knows, a straight forward answer is not the best way to encourage learning.

C) My escapades of this nature are well documented here on the DF... albeit in a long burried thread!

Hmm, good question, just never happened, ofcourse has something to do the fact that it's generally the cute girls that bouncers/bar personnel allow to dance on bars and tables, guys like me are often cut a little (well, a lot less) slack in such matters.

If a good occasion arises once I would do it though.

Dancing on a table top?

I would never do anything so exhibitionist in character. My nature is to be shy and retiring, a quiet, shy, diffident sort of fellow, the sort who never could, never would, take a position and staunchly never budge....

Perhaps this poll should include:

"No, never have, never would", and "No, never have, but might". :)

Yeah but it gets uncomfortable when ladies stuff loads of money in your underwear.

DancePoet,

"No, never have, never would" = Wouldn't dream of it
"No, never have, but might" = It's on my list of things to do at least once

You really just have to get good enough so they're stuffing notes rather than coins :D ;)

Stand and be one with the wind my son, for it will fill you with the heavenly glory of a thousand evasive statements. ;)

OK Pacion, I'll give you credit on the first, but there seems to be a difference in meaning on the second. "Might" doesn't necessarily mean "it's on my list of things to do at least once". As an example, I haven't put it on my list, but I might do it anyway. ;)

I don't think that I have, but I guess that's because in the short time that I've started dancing I haven't felt like doing so. I probably will and more then once sometime in the future. :)
