I am buying a new and nice standard shoes and latin sandals.
I have black ones for practice but want a nice one for try out/social with DH and hopefully eventually comp.
Now, colour choices for latin are gold or silver. I am leaning towards gold atm, but please tell me your opinion, for standard pump I am thinking about white pearl or skin coloured satin. Still undecided.
Now I have a gold latin sandal that is rather a bit too narrow for my elephant wide feet. I am wondering if I can stretch it... It is supadance and it has been sitting lonely in my cupboard...sigh. That is what happened when you buy things just because they are on discount. Hurts like hell when I weat it and it creates welts around the widest area of my feet. Not nice when you practice so much.
Since I am asian, some of you said that better stick with bright colours but what colour of shoes will match ?
Thanks for your opinions.

For competitions people mostly wear tan colored satin for both Standard and Latin. For practice and social you can wear whatever you want. I guess it depends on how quickly you go through shoes. If you think your shoes will last until you get to compete, including staying nice and clean, then get the tan satin. Otherwise, just get what you want.

I would recommend getting a tan color for both latin and standard (or gold if that's the only color available that's close). The idea for the tan color is the extend the leg line of the lady. Sometimes women will wear red or black or white but that is normally for a specific show dance or something. So if you can, get tan shoes for both.

You won't usually find anyone wearing certain colors for competition such as gold, silver, black or red. Gold you may be able to get away with in a pinch but I wouldn't recommend it.
The color standards by most of the shoe manufacturers are dark tan satin for Latin and flesh satin for standard or smooth. This is going by the major companies such as Supadane, International, Freed, Ray Rose, and Capezio. Some companies such as Stephanie actually have copper satin which is somewhere in between the two. Raven Moon mentioned leg lines and that is important. This is why fish nets are sold in either Bronze(toffee) and Copper (suntan) to match the lines.
As far as your Supadance I would suggest possibly selling on E bay or even posting the style and size on DF (check with a Moderator first). You may even post at studios you dance at and let people you know what the style and size are. They are a very well known brand and if they are a popular style you should have no trouble unloading them.
Supadance does make a wide in some of the more popular styles and that may be what you need. The T-strap run narrower on your foot because the design of the straps actaully pulls the shoe up and in when tightened. If you have a wide foot stay away from them and go with an ankle or even an arch strap for more support.
Good luck!!

I like Fresh or tan satin for both practice and comp. I usually retire comp shoes to practice shoes after a while. so tan/fresh are alwasy useful for all purpose.

I agree with everyone here. For competition I would use flesh/tan satin for both standard and latin.

dancingirldancing- I was thinking about your shoe situation. How often have you worn your gold latin shoes? They can be stretched. One method I have recommended is wearing them at home with athletic socks (the heat from your feet helps the material to stretch, the socks protect your feet). Or just take them to a shoe repair and have them put on a stretcher. If they continue to pinch your feet, then you may want to consider the 1618 by supadance because it is adjustable. But please don't continue to wear shoes that pinch your feet.
