Hey everyone!
I just had a question:
Where do you all get your dresses?
I'm looking for a latin dress but I don't know where to look.
Thanks for your help!
:p

Welcome to DF dancingmorgi!
TC is one of our mods who "specializes" in digging up threads from our archives on subjects our members start up.
Until we get some threads dug up for you that addressed this subject in the past. I normally look for second hand latin dresses from local pros, look at sites like ballroomdancers.com, and get dress contacts for local seamstresses from other latin dancers in the area.
If you're looking for a "beginner's dress", many people go to the juniors department at departments stores, pick out something appropriate and decorate it themselves (if allowed at their level of competition).

Dancingmorgi, it will help if you let us know where you are. When buying a dress, especially a first dress, it helps a ton if you can work with someone local (or not local, but someone who you can go to or they can come to you at least twice to get some fittings in). In all honesty, same is true on rentals too. Dress may look great on someone else, or on hanger, but not look right on you. Even if you can't find a dress locally, find a seamstress (or learn yourself) who knows how to work with chiffon, 2wya and 4 way spandex, etc. If you're buying a used dress, or dealing wiht mail order, your'e likely going to need at least some alterations made, and working with ballroom dresses is a bit different than other sewing.
There are also a LOT of places that offer rentals, so definitely consider that for you rfirst dress. Often, if you decide you love the dress, you can buy it from the rental company, with some portion of your rental cost going towards price of the dress.

Hope this helps. I don't have much personal experience with latin dresses (had difficulties finding them in my size ;) ).

Some sites for buying or renting:

Or if you want to make your own, grab some undergarments and garnish generously with rhinestones. :)
So - Is this basically bra + panties + handkerchiefs? (http://www.dance-forums.com/showthread.php?t=17333)
