I am thinking about buying some Espen and Chrisanne practice wear for my practice. We are also going away for a few weeks in a couple of month on a cruise so we will be dancing a lot YAY !

So I will need some practice wear that will be presentable enough to dance on the cruise as well. Hopefully, can be used for some comp I am hoping to do in a very near future. (touch wood)

I do not mind spending a bit more due to me going to use the skirt/top/dress so much anyway !

Dilema is, should I get more latin or standard dresses/skirt and top combo when I am going to dance both.

I mean like in normal social, you cant keep on changing your skirt. So do people normally wear long (standard) or short (latin) skirts ? I never go to a social before so pardon my ignorance...

Another thing is due to my pear shapeness, is it better to buy ONLY black skirts and then matching it up with coloured top ? Or some black dresses ? Or can I get away with some colour (eg. red, pink)

I feel like I am going to a funeral sometimes wearing all black with no blink LOL !

My top half is very slim and shapely though SO I want to draw the attention UP. How do I do this with Latin dresses ? I guess I cant be buying anything too short... Other pointers ?

Oh, also found these websites:

www shopdancescape.com/home.php
www dancesport.uk.com/wear/

Preference on the UK site atm. But if you know any good reseller in Aussie please let me know. Thanks.

In my area, people normally wear pants.

If you want to wear a skirt, make sure it's not so short that you can't dance Smooth/Standard in it without it crawling up, so to speak. Other than that, wear what you want, it's a social dance after all.

Sounds like we have similar bodies...a-line baby...nothing clingy on the bottom for me. Have gotten a couple of cute practice dresses lately - one capezio, the other was Mirella I think with leo built right in. Black of course, though with right shape/fit, any color would work (red). Both were quite inexpensive and the length was sort of in between latin and standard at my calf with an uneven hem. Great for lessons this summer and would be great for social as well I think.

But like Laura said - its a social - wear what you like and are comfortable in, including pants. Get skirts, tops and dresses more in the lengths and styles for what you'll need more for when you return and will probably get the most use out of them.

And most of all - HAVE FUN!

I'd buy a cheaper department store skirt and spend the money I saved on lessons.:)
