Just kidding, but I am amazed at the number of swing dances that can be thrown into one song!

We took a couple of months worth of private lessons in the savoy style lindy, and went dancing. Guess what? We didn't see anyone doing anything we knew!

So we learned some 6 count swing and guess what, nobody is doing that either!

So this weekend we took a 2 day workshop on Hollywood, which included how to go from 6-8-6! Suddenly I recognize what everyone is doing!

Now that I know what I am looking at, I realize that everyone IS doing the dances I know, they are just adding them to the dances that I don't!

Ok, so I am not telling any secrets here but it is something I didn't know when I decided to learn to "Swing Dance". (It's still pretty cool to me!)

Isn't it cool!! That's what is so fun about swing, and indeed every dance style. And the more different dances you learn the more you can add to each dance, and I'm not only taking of swing here!! :)

I have been satisfied with just learning the early swing related dances cause there is so much material to learn within each dance. Lindy Hop, Balboa, Shag (for 6 months at least until I was bored with it), Solo Jazz and Charleston, 1920's Partner Charleston, Big Apple, line dances, etc.

I'd like to to learn the shim sham. I haven't found anyone who will teach it to me yet though.
