Have you been to any of the events in the UK? I went to the Salsa Festival in Haarlem a few years ago. It was my first congress (and time in Holland) and it was great!

Not exactly related to this, but one of my dance partners on Friday night who is big on swing dances commented how different it was seeing ballroomers trying to dance swing vs. the true swingeros (to borrow from salseros). She found it highly amusing and somewhat disturbing that all the ballroomers seem to dance swing as if they perfected it.

I'm sure similar comments will occur when seeing ballroom salsa/mambo compared to club.

Seriously, are they both the same, with the exception of mambo having a set ISTD syllabus list of figures? Quite frustrating.
