He's playing at a new restaurant/club in Seattle. I just hope it won't be oversold and terribly crowded!
Lloraras, here I come!

You are a lucky girl.....!
Oscar d'Leon is a fantastic performer......he works sooooooo smooooooothly with his band, and they interact with the crowd in a way that many other well known groups don't do 8) .......
The man himself is a fantasic dancer too.....I was fortunate enough to dance with him :notworth: !
AND in Seattle...! One of my favourite cities in the whole world, with a great salsa scene no less......
*I want to be there too  .......*

I went to Seattle two years ago (before I started to dance salsa), and it's one of my favourite cities too. A relative of mine has just moved to Seattle... I'd love to go back and check out the salsa scene.
Maybe after the UK Congress and the DF tour of Australia ()...? I have to start saving up.

You lucky thing. I reckon he's the best entertainer in the business. Last time I saw him, he came up with a completely original arrangement for his trumpets and trombones right there on stage - in the middle of the song! It just blew me away.
Shame he's not touring the UK in the immediate future (I'll just have to settle for Africando).

 you are getting Africando, and you call it "settle"... ?
We are SOOOOOOO far away, if ANYONE comes this way it's already a miracle!

You and me both. How the heck am I going to pay for dance lessons if DF keeps having these reunions? So when is the Australian DF reunion planned?

Sagitta --
Ermmmm ... Muy bien -- at least what I remember!
I picked up my current crush and a female friend and we headed down to the venue. No problem 'til we decided a shot of tequila was in order. The place is huge but has a smooth concrete floor -- bad for legs, and really bad for dance shoes when it has spilled drink on it. (Ew. My shoes were nearly ENCRUSTED when I checked them the next day.)
I am usually very engaged in any kind of performance, and I rarely drink, but once Oscar got going -- I do remember dancing to "Lloraras" -- things were a bit of a blur! I think I was a bit caught up with my date and with some really potent concoction the bartender made me.
I had a great time and Oscar was one big smile the whole time -- the kind of guy you want to have coffee with and talk about music. =)
So it was a VERY good time but I do wish I had been more attentive! I did get to dance with a few really wonderful salseros and fortunately had my intimidation factor considerably lowered by then LOL!
*sigh*

Melissa! Glad to know it was all happy, even though somehwhat a blur!! :)
See...I never drink when I go partner dancing. I had a drink once and even though I had a pretty good tolerance all I was good for was freestlye dancing....couldn't partner dance for the life of me. Every time I do so the same applies to me until it is completely out of my system. It's just something about partner dancing!! Cheaper for me though. :D

I normally drink ONLY water when I dance. People actually think I'm slightly odd because they'll offer to buy me something and I prefer water. But I felt particularly festive that night -- TOO festive, sadly. heh!

Yea, he's a good bassist.
Mellody, just start drinking more, so you can get used to it, hah. I drink too when I go out, but I think the important thing is to moderate your drinking so it doesn't become so much you can barely function or remember if you had a good time or not.
