So? What happened at the NY Salsa Congress?

Who met up? How was the social dancing? Performances? NYC in general?

I didn't meet up with anybody from DF. But I was there Thurs, Fri and Sat nights for the socials. Didn't see any official perfs, although there were plenty of people "performing" on the carpets Friday and Saturday nights. I always get a kick out of that and love just observing the whole "scene", the little cliques, people looking for attention, etc. I find it all just fascinating from a psychological standpoint... :-)

Thursday night was a bit slow, but Fri and Sat nights were very crowded.

I had a great time, as I ended up meeting an AWESOME dancer there...and he didn't just do salsa, but was really good at cha-cha too...just a very natural all-around dancer with his own style....we danced together alot and exchanged info so we can meet up again. So that was a real thrill for me, as there's no "high" like finding a dance partner that you really click with!

The music was all around "ok", but not much there that really excited me music-wise....

it was an all round great experience. i only met with noobster - it was impossible to identify any other DF-ers. For future meetups, I think it's essential to share at least phone numbers ahead of time :)

I was there for thursday evening, met up with some old friends and made some new ones. Got to dance with a couple of ladies Cha Cha who were fun and entertaining. My high lite of the evening was at the very end when I met up with Edie the Freak which I got to dance the last song of the evening. Always a pleasure to dance with her.

You should've seen the threads over on SalsaForums. Several of us were able to meet up in person at the designated rendezvous points and at others times on the dance floor. :D I guess I have to remind myself that not everyone here on DF visits the SF site. :doh:

The next time that a number of us are heading to the same event or congress I'm going to point people here to the relevant forum threads over on the SalsaForums site. This way we can at least guarantee that people are aware that meetups are scheduled.
