It's coming up in October ... anyone going? My partner and I are thinking of competing in the Am Standard - had wanted to compete at Embassy but injuries prevented us.

We were thinking of flying out for it, but they only had 5 couples in open am standard last year. Do you think it will be bigger this year?

Oh I hope you come dance Standard Dancer! It will be so nice to see you two on the floor again!

Thanks! It will be nice to BE back on the floor again ... :)
HKK -- I'm not sure ... and I don't know of any way to check registration numbers for this comp. It will be nice to meet you if you do decide to come.
I hope it will be more than a final.

If everyone who is interested in coming actually comes rather than waiting around to see if people are coming or not, it will be! :) Can I bribe people with a party at my place? It's about 10 minutes from the competition hotel.
This comp only started having a web site last year, so there's not a lot of previous-year info laying around.
BTW, I'll be the on-site Registrar for this comp.

Laura - are you competing?

No, I'm officially the Registrar and therefore prohibited from competing since I'm working. If I were just doing check-in it would be different and maybe I could, but as Registrar there's the whole time issue (plus ethics) -- Pro/Am Standard is on Saturday morning and that's the busiest time for competitor check-in/bill settlement/adds & drops so I really need to be free to work.
My next (and possibly only) local comp will be City Lights Ball in San Jose in January.

Woohoo -- party at Laura's! Well, we'll most likely compete no matter if it's a final, semi-final, etc. as long as our bodies allow.
If I remember correctly, Laura, you were the one who put together the website ... good job!
Sorry you won't be competing at this comp, but we'll still be able to say hello.
We hope to do City Lights also ...

You are too kind, it is about as bare-bones as it gets but hey it has all the info people need. I'm not a web designer, just someone who can whack out some HTML quickly and accurately.
Might be competing if we get our routines together by then. 50-50 at this point.

Hope you get it all worked out!
By the way, the web site is temporarily down. I just called the Internet Service Provider and they're going to figure out what is wrong with the web server and fix it. So if you try to go to www.autumndanceclassic.com today to get info and it doesn't work, please try again tomorrow.

Yes, it went back up about 5 minutes after I called the guy who runs the web server about it. That was about a week ago.

Rules Clarification: dancers are allowed to wear their costumes in the Junior events. Preteen events are costume-restricted.

Hi Laura,
On the off chance that you're on DF while at the comp, do you know if the Open Am Standard is still on time for 9:20pm and how many couples there are?
In any case, see you soon! :)
