A BsAs couple dance which borrowed its features from various other dances.
Oh, did you mean that some poetry had to be included within the definition?
Surely someone from Montevideo would disagree...

Agreed.
But then the definition stops being short because "Rio de la Plata" is longer than BsAs. Same for Gardel's birthplace, a Montevideo guy will disagree with the short def but his own def with the swap of babies is much longer.

Rui, I have to say that your posts have typically been the most unusual of all since I have been on the DF. But, you are fun. To answer the post.... see my signature lines.....
Tango: a dance; a culture; a feeling and emotion, that births a lifestyle.

Not for me based on what's on offer at my local milonga!
I'd say:
Pena, amargura, tristeza, dolor

Found somewhere:
"Tango is trying to caress the music with your feet." (Gavito)
Now I took classes with him and he favoured the heel-first step. I remember he asked a guy to walk and the guy walked in a very caressing way and Gavito ridiculed him. What are you doing? Ice skating?
It may be a translation of a translation, with maybe the original meaning being... lost in translation.

What someone else posted on another thread:
'A three minute date'
Just goes to show how good (or really terrible) a short span of time can be.

Tango selects people. One day, tango says, “You”, and you never stop dancing. It gets you. (Oscar Mandagaran)
