My dream partner would be...
- a good leader

- about 20 cm taller than I am
- thin (I prefer thin men)
- hair, eyes, mouth, body: doesn't really matter, unless I want to get involved, in which case, the answer is... well, when one asks in a forum, I'll say it... so far, nobody has... :)

Yeah, height is important -- someone only slightly taller than me when I've got my heels on. I prefer a man with a good bit of muscles on his shoulders though. :wink:

The most important thing for me though is musicality -- ability to dance to and play with the music.

Loves to have fun with the music, is worried not about getting a step right but leaving her soul spread all over the wooden floor.

To her technique will be limits, and limits she follows none, so she ends up breaking every rule and only does what 2 souls becoming one do. Meshing with each other in the ups and downs of percussion. To her the oneness of two isn't achieved by physical connection but the a heart pounding love that can only be generated through Salsa. The follow can only come from a lead, a rule she so desires to break, but must wait till the music says so. Although I desire to be the king, my Kingdome can only be ruled by a Queen, for my Kingdome without a Queen is but a larger prison. A Queen who will stop at no end to shine a darkened empire, a queen whose glace into my eyes means I am yours, you are mine. She that can elevate passed all possibilities of the body and creates the reality of a dream so present in the realms of the soul.

She needs to be nor attractive, nor skinny, nor Coca-Cola-bottle-like. All she has to be is there with me. No just there, but THERE. In heart/soul/body and music! For the Kingdome of Mambo can only be ruled with love and passion.

For me..
Prefer someone taller (not mandatory though) 5'8-6'3
Confident in his lead with a good sense of rhythm who dances with me and not at me.
Someone not too much into tricks, dips and spins but more into the essense of Salsa.

Simple...

Feels and expresses the music...good frame and connection...not afraid to make eye contact, doesn't stare at the floor...can interpret and follow different styles of leading.

Is there physically and emotionally on the dance floor...not somewhere else. Allows herself to let go of preconceived notions...surrenders to the music with me and is there as a partner...

Height, weight, age...not important...but that she smiles, laughs...and knows that life should never be taken too seriously. ;)

I do understand and agree with all you say, but height is to me quite an important factor in terms of comfort level. It can be rather tiring to maintain eye contact with a very tall guy (I like having tons of eye contact, but my neck starts hurting after a while), and a big height difference makes some moves a bit more tricky. One of my favourite leaders is very tall, and although he is lovely and fun to dance with, we seem to keep hitting each other's head every time we dance.

I totally understand. I like the challenge of dancing with really tall women...if you can lead them well you it can really help your confidence. And with someone who is really short, I can duck under their arms and use some lower center of gravity moves. Dancing with someone close to my height is wonderful, but if they are a whole lot taller, well there may be something else nice to look at! :D :P

Of course being a single guy...it is wonderful to dance with someone that you'd like to get to know better...;)

I am working on my on2.......so far, successful with son montuno only :oops: :oops: .........we don't have any 'solid' leaders here to practice on2 with yet.........

With height, until recently I was totally unaware of its impact to my dancing.......until CapricornDancer pointed it out.

"Hey, you are the tallest girl here tonight, but for some reason you feel 'shorter'....!?" :shock: ...

In my salsa circle here, I am one of the taller girls....yet having danced with guys who are my height or a bit shorter/taller for the last 15 yrs, I've unconciously 'lowered' my stance (as well as centre of gravity) instead of holding my frame 'up' :oops: .......

This makes a difference in the way I follow different leads.

So now I kinda 'adjust' my height to suit the partner & his preferred style......

-great musicality, improvises (as opposed to repeating patterns) while never lose sight of dancing with me

-taller than me would be great, fitness is a must......I can out-dance most people (ok, maybe not turbo style all night :roll: )
-knows/works with my/his physical limits
