With the various relationship threads here, hopefully this will be fun.
Ok...do we get to see some dancing? (Probably not, although I vaguely recall one guy took somebody to a dance lesson for a date one time.)
Four guys in a row haven't been able to find a workable relationship, and so far the two bachelorettes are still seeing their choices. Will this guy get it right?
What's this with "the spy"? Might work to boost ratings, but wasn't it enough just having the Bachelor be a pro football player? How will this effect any future show with participants wondering whether or not there is a spy?
Well, we'll see how it goes! Hopefully this will make for a good discussion!
This would be some sort of TV show, I suppose?

I didn't realize "The Bachelor" was still coming on TV.
All I remember is lots of controversy about the couple in the first show -- they got their million, then were engaged, then they weren't, then they were. I lost track. Could somebody update us? What's up with the bachelor these days?

btw. The bachlor is another show I've never watched. I'm not much into "reality" TV. I don't think it's been real at all, not since the first seaon of "The Real World" on MTV. Now that was good reality television.

Pygmalion: I believe the show you are refering to in your first post on this thread was some other T.V. program where there was a monetary prize involved. I didn't like the premise, and therefore didn't follow that one. I seem to recall the guy and gal are no longer together.
Jon: Yes, "The Bachelor" is a T.V. show. There have been four with the guy being the one who narrows down his choices to one person, and two "Bachelorette" shows where the situation is reversed.
The premise is one person gets to meet 25 others of the opposite sex. Through interacting in different circumstances and dating situations, after several shows, that person ends up with someone to continue persuing a long term relationship. So far, none of the guys from the first four shows has gotten very far in maintaining a lengthy partnership. However, the two women are still going with the guys they have chosen.
This particular "reality" relationship show has had the most staying power on T.V. of it's kind. Similar to the "Survivor" series lasting as long as it has, although it has different circumstances.

What is this show called? And what network is it on?
There are a bunch of them, so I get confused. There was a Joe Millionaire, The Bachelor, and then a bunch more. Which is this?

Oh yes, this is coming back to me now. The other shows were called, "Who Wants to Marry a Millionaire" and "Joe Millionaire". I was not impressed with the concepts of either of these, and therefore didn't follow them. I believe the "relationships" were not successful much beyond the end of the shows.
The shows I'm refering to are on CBS and they are called "The Bachelor" and "The Bachlorette". I have watched all of these except the first. One couple, Krista and Ryan, have actually gotten married while the most recent Bachellorette is still seeing the guy she chose. I am not sure how many more I'll follow, but somehow this one has sucked me in again.

The newest Bachelor, a backup quarterback with the New York Giants named Jesse, met the 25 women who did not know in advance who he was, and he had to pick the 15 out of 25 he would give a rose to symbolizing that they could stay for the next round of the show.
This time the host had the Bachelor give out a "first impression" rose to a woman before the usual rose "ceremony". He picked a woman named Trish who happened to be the last woman to arrive in one of the limos that drops the ladies off on the first night for the initial meetings.
And at the end of the last night's show it seems he made an error in calling out his last pick to give a rose. One women's name was Katie and another was Karen. He looked at Karen to pick her, but called out Katie's name instead. He seemed rather embrassed when he pulled the host of the show aside to explain his action. In the end, after much struggle, Jesse decided to share his mistake openly in front of all the ladies, and give Katie the option of staying or not. Katie chose to stay, while a sixteenth rose was given to Karen.
Next week, after spending time to attempt to learn more about them, he'll likely need to reduce the number from 15(oops, 16 now) down to 10.

Well, no dancing yet. But there was some opera!
Jesse took his "first impression" rose pick to the theater (I believe the sign said "The Orpheum") for opera and then a dinner on stage after the main event. However, seems Trish might be a bit high maintenance or perhaps thinks to highly of herself? And the other women are clearly not liking her "in their face" attitude. She does seem to have this one side when she is not with Jesse and another side when she is. The spy has been revealed, and Jenny (a wife of Jesse's friend) has made it known she is clearly not impressed with Trish. We'll see how this develops. But remember, this is T.V., and they are only showing what they think will make for a dramatic story, so who know's what might be missing.
Other comments and highlights include:
Not enough time showing his interactions with some of the women and some weren't even given T.V. time. At least three of which didn't make it to the next round. It was difficult to understand why he made his picks without seeing more of the relationships develop, but perhaps at this stage it's really a matter of getting down to the finalists anyway.
One women, Kristy, actually confronted him to tell him he wasn't her type and didn't desire to be picked for the next round. She got her wish, while Katie, the woman who he mistakenly chose last time, got the first rose this time. Seems Jesse had a change of opinion.
And is it me, or are the younger women in their early twenties much less mature in attitude then those in their later twenties?
Oh...and Jesse's revelation about not wanting to wake up any more and wonder who the person along side of him is. Oh my! This could really get him in to trouble if he doesn't out grow that foolishness.
Can this guy make it where the other four Bachelor's have failed?

Now again, this is T.V., but the commercials for the next episode seem to be stressing Jesse's continued admiration for Trish, while Jesse's spy will be stressing her strongly negative opinion of Trish. I suspect this won't be fully resolved this Wednesday night, but this could be interesting.

Well...the spy, Jenny, won't be back for the next round, but she has given Jesse all the scoop he needs to drop Trish. But he didn't!
Seems some of the women had a little drinking game while Jesse was out on a date with Suzie. The women asked questions and if any of them answered "yes", then they had to take a drink. Sounds like a silly college game all over again. Anyway, Trish was answering "yes" on almost everything, including questions like whether or not she had slept with a married man. I'll spare you the deatils of the rest, but I think she might have been just saying "yes" to some of them for effect.
The women weren't impressed and the spy informed Jesse of the details. He wasn't impressed either, but he felt he needed to chat with her before dropping her from the show. I'm starting to see Trish as too "high maintenance", and hopefully Jesse doesn't keep her after the next show.
The remaining six, in order of his selection this last time are:
Suzie, 23, Warren, MI
Mandy Jaye, 26, Austin TX
Tara, 23, Norman, OK
Jessica B., 21, Huntington Beach, CA
Karen, 28, Providence, RI
Trish, 28, Ft. Lauderdale, FL
I'd say of these choices Mandy Jaye and Karen are the best two, although Suzie and Tara are OK. Jessica and Trish should be the next ones to go.
And what was this? Bill from "The Apprentice" interviewed for "The Bachelor"? Evidently so. And they showed clips from his interview as the credits rolled on last night's show. Kind of funny, and I wonder if he knew they would show this.
Oh, and I almost forgot! On one of his dates, Jesse actually spent some time dancing with one of the women! Nothing fancy though, just the another example of the "hold and sway" stuff.

Did you by any chance watch the E! True Hollywood Story about the Bachelor? It aired last night at 8:00 EDT. I didn't see it, so I don't know if there was any juicy stuff. But it's probably worth checking out, if you're a fan. Those shoes re-air many times, so it's probably coming up again soon. 8)

The spy, Jenny, was revealed to the ladies! Weren't they surprised. The look on Trish's face was priceless as it begun to sink in how much of her statements may have been revealed to Jesse. Most of the women forgave her, but many were very surpised.
Jesse took Jeesica out for an evening at the Rose Bowl complete with picinic dinner on the 50 yard line and a band marching in playing music. She was touched by the whole thing and showed herself to be a self-confident with a positive attitude. Meanwhile, back at the main house, Trish was grilled slightly by the other ladies and her mood continued to be gloomy.
Next, Jesse had a date with Mandy Jaye. They went for a romantic yacht trip with dinner following. She continued with a mature way of conducting herself, and answered Jesse's questions with candor and quality. This time back at the bachelorette pad, the other ladies, except Trish who sat in the kitchen pouting, tapped a keg of beer and clearly had a tad bit to much.
Jesse's third date went to Tara. He handed her pink roses, her favorite flowers, picked her up in her favorite type of car, brought her back to his place where the living room was decorated with flowers and candles, and cooked her favoriote meal. They spent time chatting by the fireplace, and things seemed to go ok, yet she seemed a little overwelmed.
The final three, Suzie, Karen, and Trish went on a group date. Trish was confronted by Jesse regarding her previous dating behavior's, and the rest seemed to go well, too.
In the end, Jesse kept Jessica, Mandy, Tara, and ... yes, believe it or not, Trish, around for the next show. Suzie was left out this time, but as the credits rolled the network aired one of her comments regarding Jesse that seems to be enough reason as to why she shouldn't be around any more. Unfortunately he let Karen go, but she warned him as she was leaving that he had three very good choices remaining and to watch out for one (meaning Trish). This got Jesse wondering as to whether or not he made a mistake. And he has!
Next week Jesse get's to meet the last four ladies' families.

Hmmm...
Bottom line on the most recent episode, Trish was not invited back for the next episode by Jesse. However, according to previews she will be "crashing" the show anyway which seems a little bit over board, and I really hope the network isn't really the instigator behind her course of action just to make ratings higher.
None of the final three, Jessica, Tara, nor Mandy Jaye seem to be bad choices. Jessica seems to be a notch higher regarding ambition. Tara seems to have a excellent sense of what's right and wrong, and Mandy Jaye seems to have a very good attitude.
Jesse met each of their families. Jessica's mom certainly seemed protective yet excited for her daughter. Tara's father seemed a tad into scaring his daughter's prospective mate when he brought along his guns to fire with both of them. Mandy Jaye's family seemed a bit over consumed with her pagent activitees.
It seems like Jessica may be the best fit for Jesse, despite my previous view. We shall see?

Mandy Jaye seems a little bit lacking upstairs, all she's got going for her are her looks. Personally I'd pick the one in university, as she seems to be the only one with any real brains. (can't remember which one that is). I agree with the choice to ditch Trish though, she's severely lacking social skills.
PS. I only saw the one episode.

NeoDevin: Yes, I'm with you on the one in school. That's Jessica, and like I mentioned, this one seems like the best for him at this point. Although Mandy Jaye did show some intelligence in an earlier episode when Jesse asked her some questions during a date. Tara's not stupid either, but she doesn't seem quite right for Jesse to me.

Evidently Jesse is getting along quite well with Jessica and Tara. His dates with both seemed to go very nicely. He gave both of them a rose for the final show. I'd say at this point the edge is towards Jessica, despite the horrible eye makeup she wore during the rose ceremony.
Jesse's date with Mandy Jaye was interrupted by Trish who came walking in attempting to lure him for a night with her. She didn't seem to be quite as confident as she normally appears, but I feel she has a level of insecurity that she knows how to hide with her rather aggressive personality. Thankfully he wasn't impressed.
I believe the network set this up. I can just imagine the conversation between studio execs and Trish regarding the date crashing event. Too staged for my liking, but hey, it's television.
Also, he didn't seem to be clicking with Mandy Jaye either. Thus she was not given a rose this time around even though she still seems to have the most mature manner of the three.
Next week he takes them home to meet family, and he is down to his last choice of picking between Jessica and Tara.
Here's the website for The Bachelor. :D

The network did set up the interruption by Trish, or at the very least new about it, and encouraged it, otherwise there would've been no way for them to have the camera in her room beforehand, and have gotten her thoughts/comments before she actually barged in. I thought Mandy Jaye did pretty well to keep her composure. I still agree with the choice to get rid of her, because from the 2 episodes I've seen, all she ever thinks about is beauty pageants. Everything comes back to that with her, there doesn't seem to be any depth.
It's going to be a hard choice for him next week, but Jess seems to be the better choice (in my eyes at least). Having said that, I hope he picks the other one, thus leaving Jessica free for me,. I don't know much about Tara, other than her dad likes guns, which does score some bonus points for me, but not enough.

I was actually wondering whether or not Mandy Jaye knew in advance of Trish's intrusion. She handled it very well, and if she really didn't know then she was very poised with the situation that occured.

Well... the 5th Bachelor season is over... almost.
Jesse took the two women Jessica and Tara home to meet family. Jesse's mother struck me as being over opinionated regarding the two. She seemed far too rosy about Jessica, and far too critical of Tara. Even to the point of wanting to overly influence the situation. Jesse's father seemed more balanced.
The spy, Jesse's friend Jenny, also weighed in again, and this time favoring Tara, yet stating she would be happy as long as Jesse was.
With this bachelor series, it seemed either of the final choices would be ok, with Jessica having the slight edge. And with the women both choosing the same style engagement ring, this was strangely symbolic of Jesse's situation. Jesse continued to be nervous with either choice. In the end Jessica came away with the final rose, but not a marriage proposal. Tara was both understandably sad and angry with the end result.
There is one more show next week, where there will be additional interviews and perhaps a synopsis of what transpired. However, the real question is whether or not this bachleor is more successful in continuing the relationship then his four predecessors?
One miscellaneous comment: Although Jessica chose well regarding the dress she wore for the final ceremony, a long creamish/peachish/pale pinkish dress with some overlaid lace, and her hair was attractively prepared while avoiding the overdone eye makeup used in the previous show, Tara's long, white, fitted dress was very, very nice, complimenting her simple hairdo.

Darn, now I'm going to have to work to steal Jessica from him, . I missed the whole part where they met the parents (I was at work). Jessica's hairdo and dress were very unbecoming in my opinion, while Tara's were awesome (though I still maintain that Jessica is better looking). Jessica was the better choice, but I figure less than a month before they break up. Who knows though... the last time I figured a couple would only last 2 weeks, they lasted 3, lol. Tara certainly got a bit bitter at the end. He told her that he still wasn't sure who he'd pick, she knew there was still a chance it wouldn't be her, anything 'inappropriate' done on their dates is just as much her fault as his. Ah well, she's entitled to her delusions ;)

The foinal show for this season was held last night.
Not bad. It gave the audience a chance to see the host interview Jesse and Jessica, Tara, and Trish. They were given ooportunities to chat talk or confront one another. Tara was still disappointed in Jesse's behavior, but was only partially detailed in her explanation. Trish and Tara continued their sparring, but with nothing conclusive except they still dislike each other and neither seems to be fully skilled in resolving such issues which doesn't bode well for future relationships for either of them. Jesse and Jessica seem to be getting along at this point, yet we shall see.
Five bachelor seasons have gone by and none of the previous four have made it to the alter with their final choices. With the two bachelorette seasons, both relationships are currently still going, and one even getting to a wedding. The most important question is whether or not any of them they can maintain a conciously loving relationship beyond. If they can, then they will have much joy!
