It's very iffy right at the moment, but there exists the possibility of my moving to Medford, Oregon. I've already checked the web for dance info, but was wondering if someone here can tell me more about the dance scene there.

Ashland is only about 10? miles from there, and they have at least one Argentine Tango Festival there each year. So there must be an AT scene there, although I would expect it to be small given the size of Ashland, even with Medford adding to the potential population.
Since Ashland has the Shakespeare Festival, it has attracted lots of upscale, educated people. Medford, in my limited experience, is larger, but more blue color neighbor.
Based on GoogleEarth and your current non? proximity to Phoenix and Tucson, you might be moving to a big town!
And Portland is only a 5 hour drive up the interstate!
If you haven't been googling for info about Ashland, and want to learn more about it, let me know and I'll find a link or two for you.

One time I was driving back from Vegas, showing my mom and brother the sites, and was planning on staying in Medford at the Red Lion Inn. After a long day of driving, we got there in the evening, and, because there had been a rodeo in town, our rooms were not ready yet. I decided to drive the remaining 5 or so hours. (Rural interstate at night = no traffic and easy cruising.)
Anyhow, google "medford oregon country western dance" and you get two places in Medford, listed at this url http://www.gate.net/~htusa_nw/torclubs.htm#reg7

When compared to this community Medford is large, but it's smaller than either Tucson or Phoenix so being from Tucson it may not seem so large.

Did get some info from a teacher I contacted on one of the sites I googled and it does sound like they have a good Ballroom and WCS scene there.

Last night the different two step they do in Arizona subject came up again. There's a gal who comes up here to visit now and then (I know her BF from work). We tried to do two step together a few months ago, and it didn't work at all. It took a while to find a reference on that. She said she didn't like the way they do two step here, but really the problem is that over 90% of people here don't dance in time to the music unless it's a pattern dance or a line dance.
So, if you do come here and go to do the two step...
She DID like the ambiance at the place I go to all the time. Lots of people know the dances really well, and seem to have known each other a long time, etc.
She said she wishes she knew of a place in Phoenix that had the same atmosphere.
Know any where like that down there?

There's what's known as the rhythm 2 step, foward, foward, side together, side together. I believe this is what is also known as the Arizona 2 Step.

Meaning a C&W nightclub? I generally don't go to the clubs so I can't answer that question, but I believe the big club in the Phoenix area is Graham Central Station in Tempe.

Actually, I just returned from a weekend of dancing in Phoenix.

Spitfire:

The Evergreen Ballroom is in Medford. www.evergreenballroom.com/

and so is the Southern Oregon USA Dance chapter.

If I remember correctly, they also travel to some dance opportunities in Northern California.

Is the Evergreen the main venue? I've received previous info on the Evergreen, but thanks.

I think so. It was built several years ago specifically to be a Ballroom venue by a dance lover. I'm about 4 hours away from them, which is why I haven't made it down their yet, but I'm on an email list and when they bring in guest instructors, the events are held there.

And from what I've been informed the WCS scene is quite good there.

I think it's beginning to look less likely now, but do appreciate all the info I've been given on Medford dancing, here and from other sources. Still, I can't rule it out just yet and I'm not sure I really want to move that far away from this area, but the dance info I've received is encouraging should this opportunity present itself.
