So far, Brooke & Derek, Kim & Mark, Corky & Cloris are safe. Kinda shocked, but glad we've got another week of Kim & Mark!
So Jeffery has already gone home this week. (Well, technically, he's still there, and I don't know where he lives, but he's out.)
Safe:
Brooke
Kim
Cloris
On another matter, ABC trying to get EVERY tween girl in America watching tonight? Between Mr. Hannah Montana, the Jonas Brothers AND Jesse McCartney, the squeals can be heard throughout the land...
Oh yeah, opening routine was good, but I absolutely love that song, and trying to do Bowie is bad enough but doing Freddie Mercury is just plain sacrilege.
Jeffrey's QS was atrocious, but at least we know we wouldn't have wanted to vote for it.
Any idea who's the guy with Ashley Degrosso?
Adam Carolla on the streets, I often like him, but pretty meh. Did like the guy who said Judy was his favorite judge.:)
Safe:
Maurice
Channeling Tom Bergeron, four couples are safe, EIGHT remain!

Maurice & Cheryl are safe too...not quite sure how to combine this thread with the one wooh just started...:?
A mod will come along soon enough to merge them...:) Great minds post alike...:p
And once again, David Blaine, doing something stupid and not dying while doing it. Meh...
Jonas Brothers OMG SO CUTE!!!!1!1!!! :)
Makes me feel old. I haven't squealed over siblings since the blonde twin guys, what were their names? Going to have to google during this filler.
So the Jonas brothers dancing was just meh, not all that exciting for me. Maybe because I'm an old fan of NELSON, always thought Gunnar was the cuter one (thanks wikipedia! Should have been easy because I knew who their dad was, could picture him, but the only last name I could come up with for Ricky was Martin, and well, that's not right.)
Anyway, Safe:
Misty
Warren
And ABC rakes in the dough with another commercial break...

I know! I'm so upset right now :( Can't believe that none of the 4 we thought were heading home are in danger!
And not necessarily in the bottom 2:
Toni (Alec made it to week 2!)
Leaving right now:
Ted (Goodbye Mambo McGinley, may this shark jump have been gentle for you!)
I can't believe Ted went so early! He got robbed!

Soooooooo, sooooo disappointed right now :( Ted & Inna did NOT deserve to leave. My mom made a good point about why they probably didn't get the votes - Ted isn't as famous as some of the others on the show (and isn't really on a show right now, so he doesn't have a fan base to transfer over and vote), and with Inna being new, she doesn't have a fan base to rally around her yet, either. It was Kim, Susan, Cloris, and Rocco's fanbases (and their pros as well...still plenty of Team Sabrina fans around to vote for Mark especially!) that kept them in this week. Godspeed, Mambo McGinley!

Other things I noticed about tonight...
*Corky is definitely getting a bit irked by Cloris, as indicated in the backstage portion where Cloris basically cut him off. I get the feeling he is a bit used to being the center of attention. Could be some tension between them a-brewin'...
*In a surprisingly playful gesture not seen since he danced with Mel B., Maks was blowing the feather that was in Misty's hair while she talked. Cute ;)
*Maurice seems a bit too eager to dance the rumba...and worse, Cheryl doesn't seem all that eager to dance it with him!
*Someone, please grant Warren's wish and get him some sequins! That man is too adorable for words
*Anyone else see Lacey almost wipe out during the Jonas Brothers' number?
*Bad wardrobe choice of the evening: tie between Carrie Ann's out-to-there bubble dress, and the metallic blue vinyl number they had Ashly Delgrosso dancing in...reminded me of a tarp.

Looking at the photos I wasn't sure it was him. But when I saw a photo of him at Dance War and found out he was once a partner with Averie Delgrosso, I knew that was him.

I didn't see Jimmy Kimmel last night, but I got the impression from Jeff that he was happy to be gone...I get the feeling the whole thing just wasn't his cup of tea. Ted, however, seemed really bummed to be gone...like he mentioned on the show, he was "really looking forward to dancing more" :( If he did appear relieved about leaving on Kimmel, my guess is that it was probably an effort to appear more masculine among his fan base...remember, Ted speaks to the "beer drinking couch potato guys of America"
So let's get the speculation going. Who do you guys think is headed home next week? Could Cloris' number be up?

Agreed.
I too am sad to see Ted/Inna go. Partially because I think he was enjoying himself and partially because I hate to see her go. Think she is a good addition to the cast of pros. I like her choreography and think her 10-dance background was a plus. Hopefully she'll stick around for the pro dances on the results show.

Ted McGinley leaves Dancing; even its judges don’t understand elimination show order
At the end of its fifth hour of the week (http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/dancing_with_the_stars_7/2008_Sep_22_debut), Dancing with the Stars 7 eliminated its second celebrity: Ted McGinley. In part because it featured the Jonas Brothers and very little Cloris Leachman (http://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/archives/dancing_with_the_stars_7/2008_Sep_23_cloris_leachman_antics), it was long, drawn-out, and relatively boring.
To maintain drama, those who’d received the lowest scores from the judges were saved early on, while apparently favorites such as Lance Bass were kept around until the end. And they were kept around, because the show’s eliminations remove contestants from the danger of elimination in random order, which is pretty sketchy, mostly because no matter how many times the hosts say that elimination is random, the effect is that those who are saved early are safe and those who stick around received fewer votes.
Even Len Goodman, the show’s lead judge, doesn’t understand the process. “I find it very surprising that the pair of them are in the bottom two,” he said when asked for his comments. Literally seconds earlier, Tom Bergeron told Toni Braxton and Ted McGinley, “you are not necessarily in the bottom two, but unfortunately, one of you is definitely in the bottom one.” If even the show’s own judge doesn’t get it after six seasons, will viewers?
Because the perception that those remaining are at risk is so strong, the producers can easily use that to encourage or discourage votes. Those who are saved early in the episode appear to be safe while those left in the spotlights at the end appear to be at risk and in need of votes, so by removing, say, Cloris Leachman early, she seems comfortably safe, and her fans might not vote as much last week—and she actually could have had the second lowest number of votes this week. Likewise, someone placed in the not-actually-bottom-two bottom two might have been popular, but their results show status might lead their fans to vote even more, siphoning votes away from others.
The real problem is that it’s not random order, it’s dramatic order. The producers can play around all they want, but they actually need to end up with the bottom two (or four) at the end of the process, just like happens on American Idol. That show doesn’t reveal vote totals because that could lead fans to lose interest (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12819946/) in someone who’s doing well, and that makes sense, but at least it’s honest about who doesn’t do well.

Beto,
Thanks for the video clip and the above article!
^^Yup, totally agree with the elimination process being a dramatic way to encourage votes for who the producers want to encourage votes for. But in the giant scheme of things. The producers are pretty much in control to the end anyway, as they are with any audience vote show. The order people perform in affects votes (especially on shows like dwts where the voting starts during the show, BEFORE all performances are done.) The order of elimination affects votes. The judges scores and comments affects votes. And when you know the judges' scores are totally random (as they so obviously are), you know it's all about who the producers want scored high and low.
So basically, I've learned not to get too invested in who wins or loses, because well, it's all fixed anyway.
Tonya Plank's review of the dancers and her thoughts on the eliminations this week:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/tonya-plank/dancing-with-the-stars-fi_b_129357.html
Some interesting points from it:
Misty May-Treanor and Maks Chmerkovskiy. Her strong point is that as an athlete she's comfortable with movement. And she has Maks, who has probably the biggest personality on the show, for a partner. And she can keep up with him. Her Foxtrot looked a bit stiff and rigid at first - likely nerves -- but after a series of turns in which she kept her balance very well, she kind of let loose, went toward him shimmying her shoulders and really having fun with it, nerves were all gone. She also had very graceful arms, perhaps surprising for a volleyball star, perhaps not. On the second night, their practice session tapes showed him leading her in a forward Rhumba walk (basis of all Latin movement, so is the first thing the pro teaches), and she looked absolutely gorgeous. Ditto for some practice cucharachas (side-to-side hip sways, feet remaining stationary). Their Mambo was cute - the opening skips were a lot of fun, very her. The hip movement in her basic steps wasn't quite there, was a bit too shallow, as if she was forcing their movement rather than making them shift as she pressed down from her shoulders and lats (back muscles). But that lack of connection between lower and upper body is completely normal for a beginner. She'll get it soon. And, really, if someone moves their hips perfectly organically, perfectly correctly on the first go, it's a sign of prior dance training. For an illustration of ideal hip action, see this (http://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tj2NXO1XbP8).
Brooke Burke and Derek Hough. Brooke is very good; one of the best up front, I think. Unlike many models, she has a strong center, necessary for balance and coordination, and control. She had great body rolls and twisting action in the Cha Cha -- she's very loose in the torso and can move fluidly both from side to side and front to back. And good flexibility with that lovely leg lift. I thought their practice tapes of the Quickstep were kind of corny and unbelievable. It IS hard to hold your frame properly; leaning back to form the "martini-glass" frame can give you a real backache if you're not used to it. But the "get your boobs off of me" jokes went a bit too far, and I can't imagine dancing in that position with your baby attached to your front side is going to enable you to connect properly at the pelvis either. So a bit gimmicky. But her Quickstep turned out to be pretty good as well. She's very light on her feet, and the whole thing had a classy, elegant feel. Bruno rightly (for once) called it "pure Hollywood."
Rocco DiSpirito and Karina Smirnoff: His big advantage - he has several including of course that he's a teddy bear-ish cutie with a sweet personality who can whip up a mean bucket of spaghetti scarpariello -- but his big dance advantage is that he's a great partner. He was really taking care of Karina out there, focusing more on her than himself, holding her right, making sure he was in place to catch her when she went flinging herself into that deep dip at the end of their Foxtrot. And he (very rightly!) noted that he has as his partner the best dancer on the show. Connection, respecting and working with your partner, are what ballroom dancing is about, more than anything else. He's clearly a bit out of his element, but he's obviously working hard. His footwork in both dances was good, and Karina even threw in some (harder) kicks in place of forward steps in the Mambo, which is always fun. I think he'll improve if the voting public gives him the chance. He could be the Cristian de la Fuente, the sleeper, of the season.

We have the same issue with the Australian one, I am sure they do it that way as they want people to spend money voting. Which I wont do. In the Australian Version they are not transparent with the voting either so you have to assume they are telling you the truth
