Hi all,
I've just relocated from Israel to Los Angeles and I'm looking for nice Salsa clubs.
What places do you recommend? I didn't see many ads for salsa clubs.
Thanks,
-Shahar

Try Mama Juana's. I've been there 3x on two different trips to LA. The live music was fantastic every time. Good teachers including Alex DeSilva. It is somewhat small and can get hot in the summer. A lot of good dancers go there.

"LA" covers a fairly large area. What city/area are you in?

Additionally, what nights are you thinking of?

Some clubs can be up to an hour away, some minutes, depending on where you're starting.

Lots of choices.

I live in Santa Monica so I guess I'm looking mainly for clubs in the westside of the city...

Cool... you're already getting the great suggestions:

Monday: Zanzibar (sp?) in SM. Cristian O. teaches there (and he's excellent)
Palm Terrace (West Hollywood area) used to be good, but I haven't been there in around a year. Hopefully someone can tell us if it's still happening and how it is now.

Tue & Thr: Great at Mama Juana's:, other nights are good. Thurday can be too crowded at points.
Tue: Steven's is good, longer drive
Wed: Monsoons - crowded and hot in summer, not my fav, but others love it.
Wed: Cafe Sevilla (Long Beach): - I haven't been there in a couple months, used to be great. (anybody been there recently?)

Weekends: Granada on Fri & Sat: Worth the drive to Alhambra (20 min from SM?) Always great for me, love Saturdays there.
Fri: Tatou (downtown)
Sat: Mayan (downtown)- not my personal fav, but lots of people love it and you have to go a few times for the experience. (I like the Granada better, but totally different vibe, and it stays open until 3 AM playing salsa, Mayan tends to play a much wider variety of music, especially after midnight.)

Sun: You have to go to Steven's a few times (longer drive, worth it)

There are plenty of other clubs if you want to drive farther, and I'm sure I'm missing some... Hopefully others will remind us of the ones missed.
