According to wikipedia, the couples will be dancing either a Viennese waltz or a jive next week:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dancing_with_the_Stars_(U.S._season_7)
Being that these are the two fastest dances (in terms of mpm), I daresay Cloris (and possibly Susan) are at a disadvantage for the coming week, since they seem to be the two slowest-moving dancers. Thoughts?

It will be interesting to see what Corky will come up with to make Cloris do well.... If the dance is jive I imagined will be a tough task.

A nice slow bluesy jive...or a simple rhythm swing ;)
We have a man at my studio...the most loveable 91-year old who started dancing after having some heart problems a couple of years ago. Anyway, he did V. Waltz in a showcase the other day...they slowed it down a bit and did a lot of Smooth arms and swaying in place to avoid too much rotating around the floor. I was way nervous watching...and way proud when he finished. FWIU he'll be competing in an upcoming local comp...can't wait to cheer him on!

Is that age category D or E?
I love it, 91 years old and going strong!!

The couples dancing jive:
Maurice & Cheryl
Cloris & Corky
Cody & Julianne
Susan & Tony
Misty & Maksim
The couples dancing Viennese waltz:
Lance & Lacey
Toni & Alec
Brooke & Derek
Rocco & Karina
Warren & Kym
Cloris is definitely at a disadvantage; I would also say that Rocco is too (he tends to do better at the Latin dances as opposed to the smooth ones), and probably Susan (she seems better at the smooth than the Latin). Lance & Lacey could be in trouble too...just because they seem disinclined to follow any sort of rules

Predictions for this evening's events -
*There will be a more-dramatic-than-necessary video clip chronicling both Misty & Derek's injuries...Maks will muster up as much on-camera concern as his machismo will allow for Misty (which prolly isn't a lot), and Brooke will come across as a teary-eyed, nurturing mother figure as she rushes to Derek's side. America will swoon.
*Lance & Lacey will buck tradition yet again, and will perform a dance faintly resembling a Viennese waltz. Len will rant even harder...and his head very well may explode this time.
*Cody & Julianne will dance the best jive; Toni & Alec will dance the best Viennese.
*Brooke & Derek won't score as high this week as they did last week.
*Cloris will be back to her usual outspoken ways, with the knowledge that she isn't going anywhere this week.

Ok i am sick of Len dishing Lacey.. He is determined to hate her no matter what she does.. I found last nights waltz boring and plain.. Not her style at all...
Perhaps i am the only one that likes her but i think she is a breath of fresh air to that show.. She shows people that ballroom is not all stuffy old people dancing to big band music...
Perhaps Lacey is dancing to the same drum i dance too.. Enough already..

I am also sick of Len drooling over Brooke, in his eyes she can do nothing wrong! The judges have always been inconsistent (IMHO) from day 1 of season 1 and it continues this season.

Yeah, I think it's good to show a ballroom person that's a little different from the others.:)

Yep, the judging inconsistency used to REALLY annoy me, now it just annoys me.:p

The show itself, which has pros and competitors alike starting at age 18 (not to mention the little kids who have come and danced on previous seasons), shows that ballroom is not all stuffy old ppl dancing to big band music. The problem is that what you saw last night IS ballroom. If you find it boring and plain, perhaps smooth/standard ballroom just does not appeal to you? Len's main issue is that the majority of what Lacey did the other weeks was not ballroom steps. Usually the pros try to mix alot of actual steps in with some open work that showcases the celebrity and their personality. Instead, Lacey just showcased her celebrity's personality and had very few actual ballroom steps. It was like her going to a ballet competition and doing only a few ballet steps and the majority of her dance being hip hop or jazz. Not exactly what a judge would be looking for if one was doing a ballet competition. Likewise, this is a ballroom dancing show. What is the point of being on the show if, when you are asked to perform a specific dance, you go out there and dance something totally different just because it fits you better? A judge in any type of competition would dislike it if you did not present to them what you were asked to present.

nicely said. i am not really impressed with Lance and Lacey. I haven't seen waltz, but I saw last paso doble. well, didn't like it at all.
I've gotta say though, some of the problems Len has with certain routines is because the pro did whatever dance to a totally inappropriate song for that dance. I mean, "I Kissed A Girl" doesn't exactly inspire the bullfighter in me. It's kind of like when they get on them for looking too disco doing a samba or a tango to a disco song. You can't expect classic ballroom choreography to music that's totally inappropriate for the dance.

I agree with you partly. Some of the judges issues, whether being the song choice or the choreography, are absolutely ridiculous and have nothing to do with the person being critiqued. Critique the dancing and leave it at that. They have no business blaming the celebrity for what the pro came up with. However, every season of this show ppl have had to choreograph these dances to music that didnt fit it. You just do it. Its certainly possible (as has been proven in previous seasons of DWTS). I understand her wanting to make it different and fit the song, etc. That makes it fun (loved the kiss and the chapstick at the end and certain other things about the "I Kissed a Girl" routine simply because it fit). But only doing a few actual steps of the dance in a song because "it doesnt fit who you are" is a cop out, IMO. A good pro should be able to use the steps required and still make it different and fitting to who the person is, etc. And besides that, its not like she's just done it once. No matter what music they get, whether the music fits the dance or not, she still does it. Not to mention the not-so-nice comments she and Lance make about ballroom dancing. I guess I expected her, being an insider, to be a little less condescending and not to act so above it all. I dunno. Not saying that the judges dont get on my nerves all the time fawning over ppl who are not so much better than the others that they fuss at. Just saying that there is a reason why he fussed at them about not doing the appropriate steps.
