I often dance with a friend who I knew before we both started dancing.
He started about a month or so after I did, we are supposed to be at the same level (both midway thru bonze)
The problem is he is really bad, not just a little bit off, but WAY off. I am certainly not what Id classify as good yet either, but he has no grasp of the basics at all.
He has absolutley no tension in his body at all. I have told him so many times to keep his arms more ridgid, told him to "push" off me, he does it while Im telling him but the second we start to dance he loses it. His arms just droop.
His footwork is always completely flat and forever off beat, I need to count him into a dance and sometimes even count him thru it.
I dont want to not dance with him, firstly because he is a good friend, and secondly I want to help him dance better, he does enjoy it a great deal and I can understand that!
I just get really frustrated at times, espescially while dancing Cha Cha..I like to use a bit of enegry and I have nothing to feed off at all, and it makes it really hard to enjoy the dance.
I do understand that people learn at different levels, however as I dance with him regularly I can see that he is not improving at all.
Is there no hope for him? Can some people just not dance?
How can I help him more?
