well, sometimes the people you dance with try and chat you up while the only thing you wanna do is salsa...so thats why the slogan "shut up and salsa"...but please dont ask me about the "you can rest during the merengue songs" part ;)

Welcome to DF, Wicked-Salsero! Love the T shirt. I could print something like that on one of my tops. :D Be sure to check out the Shut up and dance! (http://www.dance-forums.com/viewtopic.php?t=2955) thread.

What did you think of the Salsa UK Congress? I'm thinking about going this year and would love to hear about your experience.

well i can see you are from scotland so you will not do much of travelling. Salsa UK Congress September 2003 was my first and so far the only congress i attented...so i might not be objective here :)

i really liked it, i mean not only we had the top names in salsa instruction from los angeles, new york and the pretty much from all over usa and europe, but we had live band on sunday and the latin madness on saturday...

now the people i dance with also organise the british salsa congress. i know some people who went to both and they said they liked the british one more becouse they had more place to dance during classes etc and becouse there were less people...

well i like a lot of people so i think i still would like the uk salsa congress even if i have been to british congress...

Also the instructors at the british salsa congress i think although they might be talented...they are not really top-top instructors ;)

Having said that.....i would be very happy to be able to dance like those instructors...;)

In general though i had a great time...i drunk about 6-8 redbul cans per day just to keep me going....and 4 days after the congress i was still salsa wired...(i was doing multiple turns in my bed)...and i dont know if you are m/f....but take a lot of johnies with you...becouse beleive me your are certenly getting some ;)

hmmm...is there anything specific you would like to know ? ;)

As it is too "local/domestic", I am not going to get into a heavy discussion of which is better - the UK/Butlins Salsa Congress or the British Salsa Congress. Wicked salsero, I have heard nothing but compliants re the last British congress. About the only plus point was the dancefloor (brought in for the weekend) was supposed to have been the best ever experienced anywhere in the UK.

As for the "getting some" well, everyone has their own reasons for going to the congresses

It was a "good" year for the UK Salsa Congress to have had the Spanish Harlem Orchestra (SHO) and Latin Madness on the same weekend. Therefore, to expect that sort of lineup in the UK from now on - we will see. I have seen and heard a lot of discussion on how tight-fisted salseros are. But, time will tell. Maybe salseros will start realising that if they want quality, they are going to have put out more than just "£5" for one night. Incidentally, I have also heard some not so good things about the last UK Salsa Congress. But, I am glad that you had a great time. SHO are truly amazing.

I will PM you when I get a chance. To discuss it here, on what is essentially an international forum would be too topical and it would pretty much end up as a limited discussion between a small number of us rather than encompassing many members here. Inclusion is one of the beautiful aspects of DF

Wicked-Salsero,

:!:    Don't tell that to my NDSHH (non-dancing, salsa-hating husband) or I have no chance of ever going to any congress!

Pacion,
When you get a chance, please PM me too. I've heard mixed views about both the UK Congress and the British Congress (this is the one held in Skegness in December, isn't it?)... :( Do you have any info on this year's British Congress?
