Just a quick note guys about my exam I took over the weekend for Preliminary Bronze. Over the 7 dances of Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing and Triple Swing I got an average score of 94.4, with all dances individually scoring above 90. Since an A is 85-94 and A+ is 95 - 100, I'm kind of in no man's land, but it is still classed as an A. Apparently very, very few people get an A+, so am very happy to have gotten within a whisker of this mark.
I was told the only thing missing was that my "attitude" towards all the dances was more or less the same, rather than selling them all on their own merits. Will have to work on this before my Intermediate Bronze exam in 3 weeks!
Yippee for me!! :D :D :D :D Just had to share ......

Congrats. :D
What is the difference between swing and triple swing?

Congrats. :D
What is the difference between swing and triple swing?
Swing is like a single step side, side movement, whereas triple swing adds a triple step (side together side) instead of the single side right, side left.
If that makes sense?

It does. Thanks. I knew what triple swing was, and just wanted confirmation that swing was that. :D

Great job d_f! Way to go! :D
Also, if your average was that high, clearly you got an A+ in several of the individual dances! Do you know which ones? (Just curious)

Congrats, DF! What's preliminary and intermediate bronze? Is that like bronze and bronze bar?

Individual results are (they are imprinted on my brain!):
Foxtrot - 93
Waltz - 92
Tango - 93
Cha - 92
Rumba - 96
Swing - 97
Triple Swing - 98
Congrats, DF! What's preliminary and intermediate bronze? Is that like bronze and bronze bar?
There are 4 levels in bronze at my studio. Prelim, Intermediate, Senior and Final. Don't know an equivalent, but I would imagine after finishing bronze would be similar to finishing bronze in other standards.

Thanks guys. Started working on sharpening up Waltz and Tango last night. He is quite confident that if I put my mind to it, I can still get an A on my intermediate exam in less than three weeks.
Lots of home practice to do!! :D

Well done for scoring so highly on the rumba d_f! I find that dance really difficult, technique wise, and have been too chicken to do it in an exam yet!

Thanks dancingdragon. I've had lots of practice as my showcase routine is rumba. I find the speed of Cha Cha makes it more difficult to get the technique right ALL the time!

Congrats d_f. I agree with dancingdragon about the Rumba. I find the faster styles easier to perform. I have a tendency to speed up the slower styles. Although, as you say, when music is fast it can be difficult to perform the step correctly.
