I'm dancing with Vivian. Saturday and Sunday, both in the afternoon.
I just wasn't sure I was doing it until I did it. I registered on deadline day. I decided not to vend there this year. It's time to play a little for a change. Yeah, come cheer. you know how I love the attention!
You have to promise me a social dance though.....

That's funny. I am actually out of fishnets. I've been at so many Colleges lately I don't have a pair on the shelf.
Even funnier is I don't have a Latin shirt in my size. I sold them all over the last 2 weeks and I forgot to save one for myself. I even know which shirt I would have worn. Now who feels pretty stupid now?? No, no please don't answer that.

Yes. We thought we'd see how we survive without mirrors :). Can't imagine doing them at Ohio for the first time, but if not for this little comp, it's probably what I'd end up with. Eeeee! Just trying to decide which dress to wear. The "bathing suit/towel" one seems a bit weird for a Sunday morning....but wouldn't mind giving it a whirl.

This competition typically does not post heat lists but I've noticed they have ramped up their technology a bit with a new website so maybe they will offer them.

BM, when are you dancin and what are you dancing? Am/Am or Pro/Am?

Good luck to everyone dancing!

Doubtful = No. We can only get through one of our routines and practices are a little tense now :( ..... Quickstep.

But that's good, right...you get an extra hour of sleep...

What is this "extra hour of sleep" thing you moms of older kids speak of? ;) My child will no doubt wake up at 6:30 AM daylight's savings time, which will now be 5:30. (And to think that in my pre-child life, I considered fall back "my favorite holiday": no cooking, no crazy holiday shopping, an extra hour of sleep = good times!)

At what age might I hope she will begin to appreciate the concept of "sleeping in"? Is there some point in the foreseeable future where she might prefer that to eating Cheerios and "playing Harry" [Potter] with Mommy? (I applaud the creativity and all, but Mommy wants to wake up when there is already light in the sky!)

The only video would be the ones the individual dancers had shot of themselves. I guess you have to ask them to see it. Poking around on youtube you can find lots of competition videos.

Its exciting to see another good 9-Dance couple - and because its Ilya and Amanda makes it even better!

This was their second time out with it. First was Hotlanta.

They also competed in Mexico City at the Stars of Latino America Dancesport Championships on October 25th.

Here's where it really gets good - at 7000 feet altitude they did both Smooth and Rhythm in the same evening (which is something like 3000 feet higher than the NDCA Amateur Championships in Provo).

I thoroughly enjoyed the comp this year. I got to see BM working on standard but had to leave before they competed. I hope you did well.

I heard a lot of great music from David including a few VW's that I need to search for. And I also was grateful to Leroy for moving our heats so that we didn't need to dance 16 events in a row...

No Amateur Standard??

There was no open amateur standard. There were S1 and S2 categories, in which the same three couples competed, with the same results each time:

1. Eric Austin - Yanina Kisler (103), Lexington, MA
2. Michael Otero - ... ... (184), ...
3. David Hayes - Felicia Hayes (108 ), Holbrook, MA

There were also some rising star events in styles other than latin, but I don't know what the results were because they were announced before I got there.

I can't remember which event Dave used it for, but people frequently ask about Outkast's "Call the Law." Some lyrics:

Welcome to my world: oceans versus mountains -
Welcome to her world: oceans versus mountains
Call me the poor girls, 'cause I love to fight them -
Call her the poor girls, 'cause she loves to fight them
I'm quite sweet if you take the time to get to know me . . .

It's the Commonwealth Classic. Constitution State Challenge took place in Stamford, CT back in September. :)

So far it only looks like the photographer has only posted photos from the Saturday morning session, as well as highlights, so you won't see many photos from pro Latin . . . yet. Wait for it: they'll turn up!
