Hi all,
I'm new, just like to introduce myself. :) My name is Mary, I'm from the Suburb Glenroy, in Victoria, Australia. I am married with two children. And well - I love dancing. Any dancing. I did Irish dancing as a child, Greek dancing as a bride and my favourite... wait for it... wait for it, ... all right it was ballroom dancing. :p
Anyway look forward to speaking to you all, soon.
regards
Mary

Hi all, it's Mary from Australia again. Thanks for your welcomes, I'm new at this posting stuff, :???: so I'll get it right eventually.
I joined this site because I love to dance and wanted to speak to other dancers around the world. I am Austalian born to Italian parents. Not really sure about other Italian families in the world but my Italian family loved to dance. When other families mad excuses to have a party, so they can drink. Our first reaction was p-a-r-t-y... Dancing. Yeah!
However when it comes to professional dancing, as a - wee yong lassie - I learnt the art of Irish dancing. (odd for an Italian family) As a bride I learnt the art of Greek dancing. But what tickled my fancy the most was the art of 'Ballroom dancing'. (triggered off by watching hours of Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire, growing up.) I did ballroom dancing as an adult. I never really entered competitions or anything fancy like that, It was a dream to just do it. And it was a dream come true.
My dance school was fantastic. Once a week they would have group dancing, where all the dancers would get together and dance with each other, just for fun. It was great. All the usual partners were seperated, for just one night. In the middle of the dancing one of the cheeky teachers would turn of the music and pop on the 'Nutbush' or the 'Bus stop' and everyone went wild. (And as a one of occasion they would put the 'Chicken dance' on.) Once a month they held a professional but fun dance off. Where they did exactly the same thing. But held mini competitions. If you wanted to compete, you did, if you just wanted to dance, you did that to. That was fifteen years ago now and I miss it. I stopped dancing because I married a non-dancer and had a family. I have no regrets, but I do admit I miss my dancing. I still dance at family parties and when I go out. But when my family become less demanding, twinkle toes will return to the floor.
So, that's my story, would love to hear from anyone who is interested in sharing.
regards
Mary

I think this is some kind of a social experiment.
Blissfully married. Knows to dance. Has only fun and no dance-drama. Looks like the story many dancers aspire to. I bet somebody is playing a prank and looking for reactions from obsessive dancers that most DF-ers are.

Hi all,
Thanks for your welcomes again all. And (quixotedlm - Social experiment... you go a little bit to - quick -quick - slow - for me and I never mentioned the word blissfully). There can be some pots and pans flying around in my house, many a day, don't you worry about that... And in reference to the children I've taught them all I know about dance, but their not as keen as I am. My daughter did however attempt a swing dance when we were at a twilight evening at the Melbourne Zoo. (Victoria), but that's about it.

Hello Mary and welcome. Just to let you know there is an Aussie thread under ballroom. Not that it is specifically for Aussies as anyone is welcomed to post and ask the Aussies questions.:p
