I am going to a Halloween milonga and really want to dress up; but cant think of an inexpensive costume idea that would be short enough and allow enough leg movement to tango in. Anyone have any ideas? i wanted to be audrey hepburn in this great vintage 60's little black dress I have and a 40s hat, but unfortunately the dress is too narrow and tight around the knee (it's calf length and pretty narrow...)

wow. what an image. I think if my front feet were to tango, my horse back end would plow into every other couple on the floor... it would take a very skilled leader to negotiate the floor with a horse as his partner :P

Hey Rubyred,
Is your dress very precious? You could just create a split by undoing the stitching at the seams of the skirt. Either up the back or at the sides this would give you some leg movement - and you can always sew the seams back up afterwards.

Or how about printing out a picture of your favorite tanguera's face..glue it on a bit of card, add some ribbon ties and make a "tango mask". ...See everyone can be Geraldine for the day LOL

Read in the papers that at the weekend some showbiz personality threw a Halloween Party (early!) and one guest....brace yourself...ha, ha, ha. Came as Amy Winehouse.

A disco I went to in the late 70's-early 80's had a halloween contest every year. One year a bunch of people got together and went as Sybil.

I am going to wear a long dress and just bring something to change into later in the evening when I get tired of the length. My shorter-skirt costume just isn't going to come together in time, so this will just encourage a different sort of dancing for a while. :)

HA! Way to go, Amp. Someone once posted that they wished that they had the testicular fortitude to wear some of the things that I wore at a comp. I wish that I had the fortitude to wear that. No....I would definitely ruin the illusion of the fit and suave Angel. :) :(
