Check these babies out!

If indeed troops in Iraq are really encountering such critters and it's not some joke.

Hmmm, do you suppose this is evidence of nuclear materials in Iraq and the insects were exposed - size mutation?

I found this article; they are known as camel spiders. (http://www.snopes.com/photos/bugs/camelspider.asp)

Lets put it this way..... If I saw a spider of that size I would be the world record holder for the longest and fastest sprint!

House spiders I have no problem with!

That picture probably distorts their size, they're not supposed to be more than 4-5 inches in diameter including the legs.

I kinda like spiders. Wasps, now... shudder.

Thanks for the link. With the useful information there no one can truly be afraid of those things anymore. I'm not!! :)

Forced perspective, huh. Peter Jackson would be proud. ;)

Stay away from the brown recluse of the American south, though.

The spiders in the pic--kewl! 8)

They are big, but harmless to humans.

The feeding flesh is a hoax.

It's two of them attached together (one started eating the other?) and they look bigger because of the perspective. And, if you're able to tear your eyes away from the scary beasts, look at the sleave and hand in the right side of the picture. Then you'll get a fairer idea of how big they actually are (still way to big). :(

And they're ugly and creepy as hell. My first thought was something out of the movie Alien. And I'm sure if I ever met something like that, I would really get the shakes (or the jitterbugs or whatever) and get the hell away. :car:

Thanks Flat Shoes. After the initial gross out reaction, I looked at again carefully. Your right, still ugly. Yuck! 8)

Well, those spiders would be ideal for target practice with my new shotgun!
