Where I work we refer to anyone who is new at anything as a "baby". Army Privates and Corporals are "baby soldiers", Lieutenants are "baby officers", probationary firemen are "baby firemen" etc, etc. :lol: Once we even had an engineer on staff who was 22 and fresh out of college...he of course was our "baby engineer".
In my case, I guess I would be a "baby DFer"? :D LOL

Yup. Which means you've posted more than the vast majority of DF members. 8) Right at the moment, you're the #54 poster, which means you've posted more than almost a thousand other members. Not too shabby. :wink: 8)

Hmm... I see some people climbing the DF "social order" ladder quite fast.
Pacion registered on the 24th of February and GR on the 12th of March and both are upper class already. :shock:

Shouldn't you be dancing instead of reading these b-boards? Does your studio/dance club has a wireless connection where you can dance and drop messages at the same time??? You need to get some help... you're freakin' addicted! :!: :!:

I usually post when I'm at work. The more pointed question is shouldn't I be grading papers rather than reading these b-boards. But if the papers were as compelling as the boards, you wouldn't have to ask me. :roll:
Besides, I like flirting with Pacion. :wink:

I am only on these boards when I am forced to be away from dancing, ie at work!! This is a way for me to keep my dancing going even when I can't physically do it.

Fair enough... I play ballroom/dance music at work while I'm in the middle of a protocol/experiment. Sometimes I do practice during breaks between steps in my protocol.

LOL! I think some of the DFers must have Internet connections thru Wi-Fi or UMTS while on the road and ADSL, Cable or satelite at home/work. That and all the necessary gadgets: laptops, PDAs, Internet cell phones, GPS... I think some even access the Internet through ESP. :shock:

I'm picturing a major dance competition with a group of people in one corner with laptops and wireless connections, all leaning over their keyboards...tap,tap,tap,chuckle,tap,tap,tap,hahaha ,tap,tap...
Someone asks: "Who are they?"
Reply: "Oh that's just the DF crowd."

You know, on the almost serious side, I've found that the amount of people with higher education, doctoral degrees and computer backgrounds are amazingly high in some dance communities!
Where I started dancing tango, it was like close to 50% of the people either had or was working on a doctoral thesis, was or was becoming a medical doctor or had an higher education in computer science. No kidding :!::!::!::!:

Reminds me of some talk a while back on elitism and dance, and popularizing ballroom dance...
Flat Shoes
04-23-2004, 10:37 AM
What do you mean elitism?
There were all kinds of people in the club, and there was no issues at all regarding this. I was just amazed when I discovered how many of the people there having this high level of education.

I remember a similar "revelation" when I first ventured out to the salsa clubs. I swear it seemed like every other person was a computer or electrical engineer! :shock:

That is absolutely the case in the swing world here. Mostly a bunch of comp sci web junkies. Salsa is a bit more difficult to pick out. The ballroomers span the gamut, but there is a high representation of really well-degreed folks in this group.
Now of course, we're at the point where we can text-message and pic-phone everyone too. We may even swap notes via infrared personal-digital-assistants...

Hmm. One wonders if that's because dance appeals to that demographic preferentially, or if those are the people who can afford an expensive hobby like dancing. :roll: :?

:shock: :oops: Thanks. That is very sweet and made me smile - after a rather beep afternoon at work yesterday followed by another beep day today :(
It is like the stars were all out of alignment and/or a conspiracy for everything that could possible go wrong, going wrong. Compound that with colleagues/"management" who claim to know nothing about a certain subject when you told/discussed it with them before doing it. The moral of the story/lesson learnt? Cover yourself at all times, email in triplicate if necessary, so no one can say claim "I didn't know/was not aware" :x
Sorry to stain - just had to rant and rave, fling my hands up in the air, oh and stamp my feet out of frustration :?
The good news? I don't have to see them until Monday! This calls for a celebratory dance :banana: :lol:

Sorry to hear about the beep days you've been having at work. :( email records work very well -- better than paper memos, because you can get a return receipt, to prove people have opened the mail. (Sneeky, aren't I? :twisted: :lol: )
But that's Monday's problem. For now, you're free! :banana: :banana:

Yes. Must be in a weird mood today to do this...but
pygmalion = 28/29 posts/day
GR = 18/19 posts/day
Pacion 14/15 posts per day
Then quite a few people around 10/12 posts/day.
