View Full Version : DWTS7 Week 6 Results (spoilers)
Cloris went home. The kids were cute. (Although would it have killed one of the judges to show the other paddle so it wasn't a unanimous decision?) Kittycat Dolls (as their real name gets asterisked) were their usual selves. Michael Flatley had FEET OF FIRE!!!! and was kind of meh. Yay for Edyta being back! (Even if we have to tolerate Cody to have it.)

Funny that you mention this. I always assumed it was part of the SOP for it to be a 2-1 vote every time.

I have to say I am really glad Cloris is gone. I think she stayed on way too long. I guess if you want just comic entertainment she was good. I personally found her trying to be a little too funny, and it didn't work for me. I wonder if that may be why they refused to let her on the first several times she asked the producers. They finally relented, but not without protest.

I thought the same thing but apparently not. The kids were very cute, as always!
I am so glad Cloris is gone!
I am still wondering how the judges could give Susan more points than Maurice and the same points as Cody (realized it in the results show). I thought that Maurice's waltz was way better than Susan's (messed up) mambo.

My comment referred to mamboqueen's post by the way.

I thought the winning youth couple was off time for half of their song and for that reason alone should not have won.

Not only that, but Carrie Ann and Len had to have split decisions so the result wouldn't be revealed until Bruno's paddle. I was glad they finally did something different last night.

Well, the dances for next week have been revealed:
Lance & Lacey - Foxtrot & Samba
Brooke & Derek - Tango & Mambo
Maurice & Cheryl - Quickstep & Cha-Cha
Cody & Edyta - Foxtrot & Mambo
Susan & Tony - Viennese Waltz & Paso Doble
Warren & Kym - Tango & Jive

Hmm. Wonder if Lacey's samba with Lance will be anywhere as interesting as the one that she had with Danny on SYTYCD to Hip Hip Chin Chin.

Think Maurice & Cheryl will ever find that chemistry that they appear to be lacking? Hope so otherwise that cha cha will be hard to watch.
Curious to see how Cody does with those two styles. Not looking forward to Susan and Tony but maybe she'll finally stop dancing "safe" this time and I think Warren will do well with those 2 styles.

I noticed that they tried to give Samantha what I call "Larinda hair" last night (up on the sides in a mohawk-like fashion and down long in the back). Of course hers didnt look quite as good as Larinda's in that it wasn't as smooth of a transition from sides to back, but whatever...
(yes I know this is a weird observation, but having just seen Larinda at a comp and admiring her hair every time she danced, "Larinda hair" is an apt name for it)

Plus the "team dancing" thing, whatever that is. So, everyone will do 3 dances?

That could either be a disaster, like the group hiphop (with the exception of Lacey, Derek and maybe Julianne and Lance) or it might be fun to watch. I just hope that Susan breaks out of her "playing it safe" shell that she's in.

Yes, "Larinda hair" has been the topic of conversation between me and my pro, too. He remarked while we were at Hotlanta that Larinda's hair hung straight down her back, showing how much her head is back, her shoulders down, and her topline stable. Now every time I start to loose my topline, he yells, "Hair!!!"

Note to self: Do not wear hair down for standard or smooth.

The fact that it would be a neon sign that my alignment is not so great actually aside, I don't wear my hair down because it will never be that healthy and shiny (or that long.) I have the neverending frizz battle.

:uplaugh: That is sooo funny!
(Good thing my pro doesnt read this board or he'd start yelling "hair!" at me too! As it is, he of course had to point out at Hotlanta how my topline should look like Larinda's and I'm like, well of course it SHOULD look like that! Ugh...my topline is my most constant source of frustration...)
BOT, I missed not seeing any of the pros dance last night!

Cloris stayed on the show way pass the second show. If viewers wanted to watch comedy, and poor at best, they would click to another channel.
Let us hope the producers do not repeat the mistake next time by selecting a "funny" character instead of a potential dancer.
This is a dance oriented show... or was I mistaken since the first show of this season?

It is supposed to be a dance-oriented show...however, the producers have routinely showed that all they care about are ratings and that they'll do anything for them. Of course it didnt help that ppl kept voting for Cloris and kept her on as long as they did. The blame lies with the ppl who voted for her...as long as the producers see that ppl like her will get votes, they will keep putting ppl like her on the show (remember George Hamilton and how long HE stayed on?).
Its ridiculous, I know, but I've come to the conclusion that that's just the way it is and we can either take it or leave it. Me, my fav part of the show is when the pros dance on the results show. The rest of the time I'm fussing at the tv because of how poorly the songs and the choreography show what the real dances look like. But thats all been hashed over before....

Personally, I think the producers are just shooting themselves in the foot for the possibility of attracting any "A List" celebs to do the show. All the stars that have been on the show have been either wannabes, has-been, and athletes most people would not have known about until this show.

Actually, if I were an A-lister, or even a B-lister, I might be even more worried about the possibility of a disabling injury that would keep me from my more serious projects. I'm sure that athletes who are still competing are going to think twice after seeing what happened to Misty May.
Looking at the types of injuries that have been sustained by celebrities (as opposed to by the pros), I would recommend that everyone who signs up for the show has to do a regimen of serious calf raises for at least a few weeks before they meet their pros and starting working on actual dance.

I daresay there has been a dramatic improvement in the star quality since season one, though...they've come a long way since the days of Joey McIntyre (10 years retired boy bander), Kelly Monaco (obscure soap star), and John O'Hurley (minor character on a defunct sitcom). Susan Lucci is pretty much as big as they come as far as soap stars go, and Toni is a Grammy winner. And Warren Sapp is quite well regarded throughout the NFL, I used to watch him when he played for the Bucs. In fact, all the stars this season (with exception of maybe Ted McGinley) have been in the news within the past year or so...so I don't think it's really fair to say that ALL the stars on the show have been "wannabes" or "has beens". A lot? Yes. All? No.

This was not the fault of the producers. The show is Dancing With the Stars. The "stars" were meant to be the celebs...now it's all about the pros.
Cloris could have learned to dance. It was a horrible, degrading, unethical, and disgusting treatment by a pro who does not deserve to be asked back that made such a mockery out of this otherwise well loved actress. The one time that she did dance (after having had to ask for it...remember that clip?), she did well, and received good comments.
Yes, it all makes for controversial, hence ratings, television. But, I hope to never be embarrassed again of my profession by this program that made a mockery out of the persons who pay our salaries...our students (whether they are celebs or the gray haired lady next door).
I agree w/ you on this point....Yes, the producers were wrong, as well. They should have stopped it long before.
Welcome to the DF.
