I think this has been discussed here before, the Cha Cha Slide. It's never been done at any dance I've been to, but perhaps others here see it, and perhaps done it at where you dance?

Hi!!! Yea, our studio does either the cha cha slide, electric slide or another line dance the studio made up during each party.... its like a tradition, we used to do a merangue line, now after a year of that we do a line dance like cha cha slide.... everybody really enjoys it! Usually right in the middle of the party they do the line dance and it never fails they always do it around the same time, but more studios should do line dances at parties because anybody can do a line dance even little kids:D

We've done electric slide at a party, and workout class at stagekat's studio does one of the more recent ones in every class. can't remember name of it at this time, cuban something maybe? Learned it at united way fundraiser we did. well, did it first time, had had enough alcohol on empty stomach that I can't claim to remember it from that night. ;)
It's on the level of music that Lou Bega puts out like Mambo #5 and other kiddie type cheap music, but hey, I'm sure he's made millions. I'm just jealous that poop can make so much.
Cha Cha Slide is a little more fun. You'l find it mostly on cruises nowadays me thinks

That would be the Cupid Shuffle... IME the easiest line dance ever! (and really on it's own a good workout if you take advantage of the movements) Which we do in workout class depending on if 1- we are dead 2- your sister is in attendance :p.

When one of our asst instructors was still at the studio (she's taken a full time job in air transport) she taught the cha cha slide at a couple of socials.
I see it danced at singles club dances and wedding receptions along with some other line dances but not at any studio parties. I don't see it at commercial dance venues here.
Ohh. It pains me to see that parts of that video were filmed in Chicago. Just what we need people to think of when they see Marina Towers and Wrigley Plaza.
Just looked at the video without sound, looks like a line dance thing to me. not partner dancing. Will look later when I can have sound. Nothing that is inspiring.

I was recently at two different partner dance events where they did some line dances such as cha cha slide. Both these events were in Fla. where I was on vacation; one was a swing dance and the other a ballroom dance. It was a fun change of pace and nearly everyone got up to do it. But in my home turf (Pa.), line dances are usually not played at swing or ballroom events.

Words cannot express how I LOATHE that dance...as well as the Macarena, the Cupid shuffle, and all other one-hit-wonders that launched temporary dance crazes. Did it (albeit begrudgingly) at the studio party the other night...not happy about it. I would have rather used that time to do another hustle or west coast.

My studio does the electric slide, cupid shuffle, and cha cha slide. We don't do them alot but just every once in a while. It makes a nice change to get EVERYONE on the floor regardless of available partners. Plus since most of them are so easy, the fun is to see how inventive people can get with the steps and still stay on beat with the group.

Addendum - I was a C&W place last night and they did all kinds of slides. Cha cha, electric, momma-sister and daddy-brother...

Gee, how many different "slides" are there?
What song (s) are usually played for the Cupid Shuffle?

Cupid Shuffle is generally danced to the song "Cupid Shuffle" by Cupid. Not a lot of creativity in names on this one. :)

Our dances almost always feature the Electric Slide and 1-2 other line dances, sometimes including one called the "Swamp Thing" that I cannot get my head around. I'm pretty burnt out on line dances as a result but I almost always get up and do them...in the name of good fellowship, I suppose.

From the wikipedia article (and all referenced!)
"The Cha Cha Slide" is a dancesometimes referred to as the "Casper Slide". This song is often played at dance clubs, parties, skating rinks and weddings in Canada (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canada), the United States (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States), and the United Kingdom (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom). The Cha Cha Slide is also a dance created by Chicago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago)'s DJ Casper (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DJ_Casper), (aka Mr. C). Cha Cha Slide is a line dance (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Line_dance) with called (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_(dance)) instructions. It is an update version of the Electric Slide (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_Slide).
DJ Casper developed the Cha Cha Slide in 1996 for Bally Total Fitness (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bally_Total_Fitness); it became a hit with gym members, and the dance's popularity prompted Mr. C to record Cha-Cha Slide: The Original Slide Album. It was released on September 19, 1996.[1] (http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00004YNI5#moreAboutThisProduct)The following year, the dance caught on around Canada and the USA, where urban contemporary (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_contemporary) radio stations (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_station) (and later mobile DJs), particularly in Chicago (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chicago), Houston (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Houston), Atlanta (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atlanta), Arkansas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arkansas), Memphis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Memphis,_Tennessee), and Detroit (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Detroit).
DJ Casper has made another version of the "Cha Cha Slide (Part 2)". By 2003 "Cha Cha Slide (Part 2)" was being played at urban venues and clubs in the Western United States.
MC Jig (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=MC_Jig&action=edit&redlink=1) also did a version of the song[1] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casper_slide#cite_note-0), which reached #33 in the UK,[2] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casper_slide#cite_note-1) but the DJ Casper version was far more successful, reaching #1 on the same chart in 2003. The song is popular at high, middle, and elementary school dance events
Maybe the video was shot in Chicago because that's where the dance came from.

The only place I've ever seen Cha Cha slide played is at Gen Con, a gaming convention.

Have you been off the planet for a wihle? The song is played everywhere...all the time...ad nauseum. Yes, it's popularity has wained as Cupid Shuffle and others are coming on scene, and eleectric slide still rules, but it is alive and well at clubs and special dances.

I have never heard the song played at the following venues:
Dance Factory, VA
Elan Dancesport, VA
Colvin Run, VA
Chevy Chase Ballroom, MD
Hollywood Ballroom, MD
Ballroom Studio, MD
Blue Ballroom, DE
Peppermint Club, PA
Ballroom on High, PA
Club 412, NYC
Clearly, I have never been off the planet, and clearly, the song is not played "everywhere".

So, I must be the only one who responded on a routine basis to the challenge to
Come on ya’ll, check it out
How low can you go?
Can you go down low?
All the way to da floor?
How low can you go?
Can you bring it to the top?
Like it never never stop?
Can you bring it to the top?
by learning a hip hop / break dance basic six (I think it's called) and/or various things to do once you DO actually end up on the floor?
(Maybe I shouldn't take that African dance class!!!)
