I might be posting this in the wrong section and if I am I apologize :-)
I was wondering if anyone is selling their Innovation DVD's. I was going to buy them off of danceshopper but thought I would check if anyone was done with them and wanted to sell them. Any reviews on the DVD's would be super helpful too. I was looking for some technique videos but most are coreography with some technique. Does anyone know of any technique videos out there that you have found specially helpful? Thanks again everyone and happy dancing!

Hey,
Those dvds are excellent, although I am not selling them, I can say it is one of the more detailed technique dvds ever created for the public.

It is for dancer though right? I have seen many "technique" videos out there but they are geared more towards the DWTS viewers and such for exercise or recreation. I want one geared towards dancesport competitors which I am assuming these DVDs are for. Plus I love Karina and Slavik (still bummed about their split).

I think it is fine here. If any other mod feels it belongs in Ads, then they might move it, but for now I think you are ok.
Thanks Larinda! :-) Long time no see

I think you will find these to be very beneficial. I ordered them on the Ukrainian site for significantly less $$$ (I think $100 for all of them...or something like that). Each disk has a choreographed routine broken down in segments (and run through several times naming steps, counts, his part, her part) and then segments on technical details (posture, footwork, leg action, body action, timing). I think they're worth every penny. Watched the paso on the way to work today, in fact.

Sounds great! Do you mind sending me the site that you got the videos at? I am finding that most sites sell each video for about fifty something each plus tax which is a little steep for me.

Might you also find them on e-bay? Just a thought.
Keep in mind that these DVDs are only available (to my knowledge) in PAL format, so you can't watch them on an NTSC TV in the US. You can usually watch on a computer since it can change resolutions, which is what I have to do with mine. However, they may be available in NTSC, it's just that mine are not.

I watch them on one of my tv's - haven't tried the others.

These videos are great, I think once anyone has them, they would not want to sell them but I got mine on Ebay and what I would make sure of is the region that says it will play on American dvd players. It will say it in the item description and if they don't put that, then do not buy it!:)
It is the kind of technique that you are looking for definitely. Not a recreational dance video or anything. You will love them and even at 100 dollars they are worth the price.

I heard most DVD players sold in US now can play both PAL and NTSC DVD's.

Just fyi - I had a problem with the samba CD, emailed the guy and had a replacement in a week. I really think you'll like these. To me, they're not the kind of video you look at once or twice and have no use for them. In fact, as my learning process goes on, I better understand things in the technique sessions when re-watching. And heck, Slavik is worth the $100 to look at. :)

Last time I checked which was well over a year ago, no. At least not the ones I looked at. At the time I was wanting to buy a foreign film, and ended up going VHS becuase of that. I was told they would not play.

I have a friend in Europe, who sends me her DVD's and others. I never had any problem playing them our DVD player. I think the resolution may be slightly different.
Here is some information I found about PAL vs NTSC format: w.w.w. michaeldvd.com.au/Articles/PALvsNTSC/PALvsNTSC.asp

I also have the set I purchased from the Ukranian site. I agree with MQ. I can watch them again and again. Every time I watch them, I pick up some new things that I could not understand before. In addition to the technical aspects, I can watch the choreogrphed routines many times in a row just to enjoy them. So, this set is a keeper for me.
I bought a region-free DVD player so I can watch European DVDs. It cost me like $70 from amazon. Considering the money savings I got from the Ukranian site, I think it was worth it.

I love ebay. That was the first place I went but the only people that were selling it were in Australia and with the shipping and exchange rate it would cost the same price it would to buy it from DS. Thanks for the suggestion though:D

I agree with you 100% ;) Lol he's a cutie
And thanks for the link. I think its so funny that on their "top sellers list" they have some Blackpool videos, the Superstar videos and some gel for petroleum and diesel engines.....how random is that? Lol
But all in all their prices are actually really good. I was also considering getting the Latin Competitive figures w/Slavik and Karina but on DS it was $75. On this site its $21! Only prob is they don't have the Innovation DVD's anymore :-(

Yikes! Does it say anything about them at all? You can always try emailing them. I'll have to check out the others.

No. They do have Dancing Baics With Passion and The Competitive Figures but those are their only S&K DVDs they currently have posted. I'm super bummed. I'll e-mail them today. Maybe they are just out of stock for the moment being. I'm keeping my fingers crossed

i agree with and123 on Dancing Basics with Passion. not worth the $$. i just purchased some of the Innovation videos at DS and can't wait to get them.
Shirley Ballas has a good latin technique video: Latin Technique & Muscular Excercises - DVD (http://dancevision.com/store/dvds/browse_by_styles/international_style_latin/styling_technique/DISSB02/) that you can find on dancevision.com.
while on the subject of videos, i've been wondering about Body Basics with Michael and Joanna Leunis. does anyone recommend that video?

I think Dancing Basic with Passion is a good reference DVD for international style figures. (I only have the Samba DVD and am considering buying others in the near future.)
In terms of technical and conceptual details, Innovation is the best I've seen.
