The older ones, anyway. It's pretty funny, actually. At the studio's weekly practice party there are four slightly older ladies, I'm guessing 60 to 65, that I see regularly, who seem to set their radars on a hunk o' burnin' P&B whenever they can. And I love it! They grin and put everything they have into it. And one of them likes to, um, feel up my shoulder muscles. It's hilarious - I never turn them down.

Yep ladies - at least the over-60 set - get in line. The Pretz-man is in town.

I know the feeling. After my first party at my studio I came home, looked in the mirror, took off my tie, and said to myself: "I am Max Bialystock."

LOL!!! I love The Producers (the original movie, more than the remakes)
So do your parties also have a nordic blonde who does the frug when she's told "go to work"?

LOL Love it P&B! That makes me your female counterpart then... most of my student leaders are at least 55+ they dance with me 4 or more times every party. (Come to think of it...anytime I've been hit on noticeably has been from men that have got to be card carrying members of AARP.) :p

I know the feeling. Actually, none that I know go as far as feeling me up (that's kinda nasty) but I have the most fun dancing with those folks with a genuine zest for life. Actually, I think it's just the attitude. Younger folks with that same zest for life are equally energizing to be around and dance with. Dancing with the self-conscious young good looking what-a-pleasure-it-is-for-you-to-dance-with-me-types bore me.

Heh, can't say I really have trouble finding people to dance with at our parties, no matter what th eage. Of course, being a guy, and hence, a pig, I tend to dance with the younger ones. ;)

But even then, most of students at my studio are older than me.

lol, I actually do try to dance with everyone before I repeat. Doesn't apply to pros though, as I rarely ask them to dance, other way around instead, so will at times end up dancing twice with them before I dance with everyone.

Heh, I'm too shy to really play favorites or anything. :) I'm all talk here on DF. ;)

hang on I (to use the old joke) resemble that remark!! Funny how I react to that catagoraization 'older women!!'

The reality is that age has changed. If you will excuse the self promotion here (can't write this without it) I can outdance many women over 20 ears younger that have been doing both a lot longer than me. I can also out think most of them in my field. I think few people would guess my real age - I have hardly a line on my face, and I can still go without, you know, upper support (ahem). Age comes down to how you feel, how you act and most of all how you have treated your body - and since all can all be ruined at a very early age the concept of age is simply not the same as it was for my parent's generation. Sure there are factors that will inevitably age - everything has a pull date on it as it where but thats not the point unless, perhaps, you are young and looking for a life-time partner or someone to raise a family with (and at least for men even that is not a limiting factor).

But when you come down to it, you are right - it is nice since even though I am distinctly well preserved its surely not the same as being 20 yrs younger :) Still, society really is changing in this area and I see no reason why, as more older people stay in jobs and because the culture of the baby boomers remains the basis for the current one (you have to realize that our culture and that of our parents was totally different so that we used to talk of the 'generation divide') 'age' as a discriminator between people will become increasingly less important.

One of my dancing friends is over 90. After every dance, she gives me a belly-bumping hug, a big smile, and tells me how much she loves dancing with me. This strategy seems to be working because she spends less time sitting out than some women half her age who are better dancers.

Ditto for me, Elise...nothing is falling down for me yet either and I am just as limber as when I was a teenager. And no! no pix :p

Also I do think it's sweet when guys (like Hank) make a point of dancing with the senior ladies. Some of those ladies are very good dancers but they are not always given the chance. I've danced with a couple of 85+ men myself and even if they can't do much, they are just so nice.

Nothing falling down here and I'm thinnner, more flexable, can outrun, outdance (and my comp results prove it), outwork, outthink women half my age and I'm a handywoman too.
Oh, and at dances, I have men less than half my age falling all over themselves to dance with me. See guys, its not just men.
