What is the most unusal item that you have seen on a colleague's desk?
I am thinking of getting some calming crystals for mine
On a colleague's - an "experiment" he was conducting whereby he had a the core of an apple sitting at the edge of the computer. Gradually, over the weeks that followed, you could see the apple decomposing  It actually turned out to be quite interesting  I am trying to remember, but I think for good measure, he even stuck some staples into it

A decomposing apple core...I would say that is very, very unique. Definitely can not beat that one!

Oh man! Can't beat that!
My library work colleagues are pretty tame. One does have neat train models that he makes and brings in at various times. He is an avid train model person and has started restoring antique models.

Keep in mind that I worked in a Childcare Center here...
My boss had this plastic man about a 1/2 ft high in the staff room ...he was bent over and he worked by sensor, when we walked past him he would drop his pants and fart
Was the funniest thing I have ever seen, we used to walk past just for the fun of it.
Wonder what our parents would have thought of the staff looking after their pride and joys playing with that little man!

I think the best/worst was a former coworker whose office was "decorated" wall to wall with books and papers. I mean, 3 foot high (1 meter) walls of paper all over the desk and floor. You literally could not enter the office. (Fortunately, he worked in a dry lab across the hall.)
It was so funny, the time he went on vacation (holiday) and his manager had his office "cleaned" in his absence. We all casually stood around the hall to see his reaction when he returned. It wasn't pretty. :?
