First shoe repairs. Had to get after the soles with a few drops of superglue. I guess I've been putting those boats to work.

Early on for a while I used bowling shoes (black, not the typical maroon and white). At a beginner's level they work pretty well because the front half is made to slide on maple. But the heels don't slide so when you start to get into some better heel leading technique you need to move up.

Actually the very first shoes I used were ordinary dress shoes. Teacher was wearing open toe shoes and I was certain I would eventually kick off one of her big toe nails and put her out of action for a few weeks. But evidently she had been through enough novitiates to know how to keep her toes safe.

yes I am on my second pair of practice shoes, my coach says that if I dance and brush my feet properly I should be wearing them out every 6-8months :-)

Actually, I have no idea why I wrote that. Obviously it was my evil twin mistaking you for someone else... oh, now I remember...

Please carry on

Just be careful with th superglue... last comp I tried to save my favorite pair of latin shoes and end up having some of the glue seep through the shoe and glue the sock to the shoe as well. It tried to grab my toe as well, but I managed to keep them free :)

(These latin shoes lasted 5 years! normally I get about 6 months out of a pair.... don't know why this pair lasted so long, but I'm very sad to see them go.... :( )

so, soak in superglue when you first get them - they may last 300 years and, if you have your feet in them, so may they :)
