I may go to Madrid for a few months, does anyone know what the dance scene is like in Spain?

Hi Ashley. I know I'm late, but welcome. 8)

The tapas/nightclubbing scene ROCKS!! Nothing to do with dancing, of course. Just nibbling appetizers and drinking while bar-hopping with friends. Totally fun. :D Of course, when I was doing my hanging out in Spain, I wasn't into dancing yet.

My Spanish dancing friends were in either of two camps -- the techno/pop crew, and the salsa/merengue crew. They never seemed to lack dance spots. I could probably send an email and get a recommendation or two. Let me know. :D

Hmm. Most of the web pages are in Spanish. But here's a salsa page.

What kind of dancing do you do?

Hmm. I also found a couple old links for swing and ballroom dance in Madrid. The ballroom dance link specifically for Madrid is defunct, but I bet with a little googling, one can be found.

The swing link is swingmadrid.com The information is old, the site is all in Spanish, and the listing of venues is sparce, to say the least. Hmm.

Oh yeah, and one more thing. If you're going to Spain and will be hosted by someone, such as coworkers or and exchange family, you will have no worries at all. The Spanish idea of hospitality is stellar! It completely puts Americans to shame. Your hosts, if you have them, will find out where to go, take you, and hang out with you there, I'd be willing to bet. The Spanish are truly lovely people. 8)
