Hi there -

I keep hearing a really cool, big band-y quickstep being played at competitions. I asked Didio at the last event for the title of the song, and all he said was that it's from the Brass Monkey. I searched, but cannot find the song. Can anyone help? Sorry, don't have any clips.

Also, what version of the Spiderman song is the one that works for Quickstep?

A million thanks,

DFL

Don't know about the Brass Monkey song, but the Spiderman quickstep is by Michael Buble from Babalu.

There is a version of 'Theme from Spiderman' on Dance Super Stars 5, which is recorded at 50 bpm. The Michael Buble recording, while original, is slower and needs editing before using for dancing.

I found a group of songs by The Brass Monkey Brass Band on ITunes. Could the song you're looking for be one of those? Nothing sounds quite right, but they're fairly long and Keith & Didio would only be playing a small portion of the song at a comp...

As avab pointed out, there is a strict tempo version out there (news to me, but hey!). If you can't find it, do what I did: take the Buble version, drop it into an editing program like Sony Soundforge (a quick search on the boards will reveal a similar freeware program) and increase the speed about 10%.

I took the Buble version and squashed it from 3:01 to 2:42.
