I'm looking for a gown for under $1600 that is in good condition and well made. I'm looking for something with color (can be a bold color or a pastel, doesn't matter), no halter style tops (fabric around the neck bugs me), and no cupcake skirts (I'm too small to pull that off).
I'm 5'4" but could hem a dress that is made for a taller person. If anyone has one they would like to sell, please PM me :)

Have you seen this gown. It is an incredible gown. I dont know if it is still for sale. I tired it on and was incredibly disappointed that at 5'5 the gown was too short for me. 5'4 would be perfect.
But there are tons of ladies here who have gowns up for sale that would fit you, so I suspect your PM's will be full pretty soon!

I think you've nothing to worry about. There are plenty of dresses which can't be shortened or just look best on a taller person. That's part of the reason why I have so much trouble with standard/smooth resales. Think of all these cupcake numbers you tall girls can wear :)

sorry for the ignorance but whats a cupcake number?
[we really need a DF glossary.... perhaps in the FAQ section?]
It's those new layer cakes they're wearing for standard.
This is the only one I have seen that I have liked (and wouldn't you know, it was Kat's!)

Since I am 5'3", I would look nothing short of ridiculous in one of these things.

You are right that I would look terrific in one - but mostly because I have rather narrow hips and so look good in a full skirt...

I'm only 5'3 too even though I wear high heels all of the time lol! And I bought one of Kat's practice dresses, and it fits perfectly on me! But that varies with me though and my body shape. I have had to take only one dress to the alterations store, and they were able to change it around. It was pretty cool lol! So, they can work with you. But they did say it depends on the material and what's on the dress though. They said that if a dress was heavily beaded and stoned like my Latin dress, they might not be able to do anything with it. So, I'm very careful about what I buy online no matter how much I might like an outfit etc. I make sure to ask a lot of questions before I buy anything like that now.
