Like many of you, I attend several studios and dance several styles, but there's one studio I call home. It's mostly about the people, but it does some really community-oriented things.
On the other hand, another studio I visited, I'll never return to. The people were pushy and rude and the place was kinda dirty. It's at the top of a very short list of "no-go" studios, unless I'm desperate for a dance fix.
My studio puts on a lavish meal each week during the social, but one with fresh food and that caters for all diets, which, as a vegetarian, I really appreciate, but another only serves sweets and meat-filled products and I'm not keen on going there.
What little touches does your studio have that make you call it home, despite the raft of other studios out there?

what makes my studio feel like home is the way the dancers come together. my dance teacher is like a second mother to me so i makes me feel more like home to go every day and dance there. we have simple little meetings every week that just have a small dinner and talk about dance and sometimes things out of dance. there are only a few girls that we really connect with that help around the studio so its mostly the 7 of us..but i would never leave my studio. ive gone to other studios and found that the studio is more uptight, and thats fine..other people run their studios how they see fit, but i would much rather go to a place where they make dancing just as much fun as it is work. i love my studio and i would never leave it..its too much like home for me. :D :D

The one I attend here is different in that it is the only one that holds public dances Friday and Saturday. The only other studios holding open dances do so only on Friday.
They also offer more in the way of group classes.

My studio is my second home. As a matter of fact I've joked to them that since I spend so much time there, they should set up a bed for me out the back!! That way I could do more lessons, because I wouldn't have to worry about a mortgage!
It's the people and the general friendly atmosphere that attracts me the most. Sure they can be "persuasive" when trying to get you to take extra classes, or go to some event, but that's par for the course. I understand that it is a business, and it is nothing personal. If anything I get hassled less now than in the beginning because they know me and know how far I am willing to go.
I love my studio, wouldn't give it up for anything. :D

Everybody's friendly and we all genuinely like each other. The studio is only a year and a half old, and everyone there really wants to see it work!

The owner's are very personable and oriented towards creating an educational, friendly, and fun filled environment. There are opportunities for a variety of group classes and social events. The people who participate tend to be polite and positive in attitude.

Since I live in a city, ease of access and parking are essential. My studio has both. Also, it's got big windows that let in tons of natural daylight. The floor is big and square, which is also nice -- a few studios where I live are shaped like shoe boxes, and are so narrow that they're narrower than the usual-sized competition floor! I do go to other places, but this is the one I call home because it's the closest, the most convenient, the prettiest, and that's where my teacher teaches and my coach coaches.
