And before some smartie pants asks, no, the phrase is not affiliated in anyway, to the "pop" group, the Six Degrees
This weekend gone, I experienced a number of instances when that "Six Degrees" was more like two!
For those unfamiliar with the concept, the concept is that between you and someone else, there are "six" people. If you connect with the right six people, you will find that you all know each other.
I met a norwegian couple this weekend who knows a guy (I am sure it is him!) that I knew, by sight, some 20 years ago  He is older than I am so he probably does not know/remember me but I remember the name
I also met someone that SD met  and has a photo here. SD, this person said to tell you hello  :D
So, she asks casually, not giving in to the Enquiring minds syndrome  does this happen to you much?

Tons in the salsa scene...

All the time, Pacion, especially if you dance only one style. It's exaggerated if you dance multiple styles.

This is an interesting concept! I'm always running into people I know in the oddest places- halfway around the world(ran into a guy I knew at Schipol airport in Amsterdam last year- boy was THAT weird!). Sometimes, I'll think about someone I haven't seen in a long time and the next day I'll get a call/mail/run into them. (Can you hear the "Twilight Zone" theme song here?) Is this just coincidental or what?

No, this is not about running into people you know, but meeting NEW people and discovering that you and they know someone else! As in the example I gave:
I met a norwegian couple this weekend who knows a guy (I am sure it is him!) that I knew, by sight, some 20 years ago He is older than I am so he probably does not know/remember me but I remember the name
Bearing in mind that I would have known this guy when I was growing up.  (As the saying goes, you can run but you can't hide  )

One of my students/friends (Caitlyn) and I are connected by two people, two different ways. Of course she and I met in my class first, but even if we hadn't:
my college friend: her friend is Caitlyn's cousin
another of my students: her co-worker is Caitlyn's sister
As far as that goes, I've got one degree between SD and myself:
Me: Diane Jarmolow: SD

Through a friend, I met someone this weekend. Discovered this lady knows the grandmother of my goddaughter! :nope:
I think the six degrees is becoming more like two degrees!
Luckily, I was on my best behaviour ;)

Well it doesn't help that I still live in my hometown, but one day at the library I asked for assistance and gave a librarian my card.. she recognized my last name and asked if my family used to own a tavern on a lake in the area. She was referring to my Grandparents, so it's always cool to have people remember the business my family used to run.
