I'm looking to buy some practice shoes and am interested in Freed. There's an online store I like to buy my shoes from, but obviously I can't try them on (the selection of shoes in my area is very limited).

Does anyone have experiences with Freed practice shoes that they'd be willing to share? My foot has a wide ball and narrow heel and I struggle to find shoes that are comfortable for my duck-feet (maybe my name should have been Duckles instead of Piggles...). I wear a 5W in Supadance 1012. Heck, I'd wear 5WW if I could!

Any other shoe recommendations from fellow ducks are appreciated. :o

believe sister uses freed practice shoes. She loaned them to my old pro too when pro broke her toe, and they both loved the shoes.

Wide ball and narrow heel here too. I've got a pair of Freed practice shoes. They're ok. Comfortable enough, but I fell down twice the first time I wore them and twice the second time I wore them because the heel cup is VERY flexible, and I'm used to much firmer support in a heel cup. Basically, I just fell right off the heel of the shoe. Once I got used to that, they were great, just be warned that they can be dangerous!

I prefer Ray Rose as well but I think that Supadance may be better for people who are wider through the toes.. one of my best friends has wide feet and can't fit into Ray Rose shoes.. after much agonizing shoe shopping trips, she finally managed to find a pair that fit... and they were Supadance lol :)

interesting, as for guys, at least their latin shoes, i don't suggest supadance at all if you have wide feet. Several of their models are only available in narrow widths, and even their normal width latin shows are pretty darn narrow. That being said, overall, the flex of sole, feel of floor, etc, I love.

My feet are wide--with the left one wider than the right--narrow heels.
I wear Supadance 1008.
I order them with the left one wide and the right one narrow. Takes about 6-8 weeks and you need to order 3 pair minimum. Showtime handles it.

I have a pair of FREED and adore them - they are my main pair. They have a wide 2" heel, the same height as my comp pairs, but the main reason I like them is that I have wide feet and these are lace up from the toe back - meaning they fit perfectly to my foot. Sorry, but I don't have the number with me...

I love my Freed Roma practice shoes. I'm not sure if they come in wide, but the heel is nice and stable and I can wear them for hours comfortably.

Thanks very much for your responses! I think I'll give Freed a try.

never heard of freed, but think any shoe that can be customised to suit your foot is great. I had that choice when I bought my last pair and they feel good to dance in.

Every time I skim down the ballroom dance page I see the title to this thread and misread it as "Free Practice Shoes" and then re-read it and am sorely dissapointed...

Wow that's great!!!

reminds me of how here in England rooms for rent are marked with signs saying "To Let" and whenever I see those signs I inevitably see "toilet" and then realize that my mind is once again in the gutter ;)

Perhaps 'in the sewer' would be more accurate. In the gutter is when you see, for example, a car called a 200 SX and think of the possibilities.... ;)
