Just wanted to let everyone know about a new show opening in Franklin, TN (in case any of y'all will be in the area)! It's called The Melancholy Dane: Hamlet the Musical!

Do you truly love Shakespeare?

Have you read his plays over and over again?

Do you find nuances and subtleties each time you read that you never saw before?

If you had to choose between front-row seats and backstage passes to the Bruce Springsteen concert and a quiet evening watching a second-rate amateur production of King John, would you choose Shakespeare?

If you answered "Yes" to all these questions, come on out--you'll probably like it anyway.

This is Hamlet with a difference--Hamlet as a musical comedy. With singing and dancing and chorus girls! We play a bunch of inept actors who have no idea what they're doing trying to mount a production of Shakespeare and butchering it. And since we're really inept actors who have no idea what we're doing, we're pretty good at it.

Anyway, the dancing--there's tap, and there's waltz, and there's ballet, and there's even a kick line. We don't recommend that you try to be like us. But watching us might make you feel better about your own dancing.

I play the role of Claudius. They tell me he's the bad guy, but I haven't really had time to figure out what all the lines mean so I don't know. I do say a lot of words and everybody seems to listen when I talk so they must mean something.

In the Nashville/Franklin area? Interested in tickets? Here's the link:

Come on out. Let them know at the Box Office that you're a member of DF, and you can buy me a drink after the show! We open tonight (Friday, May 7th) and we run through June 12th.

Cheers,

Genesius

Hey Peach, Jenn-

Opening went very well, thank you for asking. Theatre was nearly full and we got a standing o. One person whom I met on DF was able to make it, so we went out salsa dancing until 2 am afterwards (had to decide between salsa dancing and bad champagne at the theatre--not a difficult choice). Only it was late, so I never had a chance to change out of my tights. After that experience, I can say if I were a girl, there's no way on earth I'd ever wear pantyhose dancing.

We run through June 12th so if anyone is passing through Nashville, drop in to see the show and we'll go out afterwards. After I change out of my tights.

Cheers,

Genesius

GR, I am truly happy for you that it all went well... and soooooooooo full of regrets that I could not make it to the States... it'd have been a pleasure to finally meet you and dance Salsa with you!

Maybe some other time!
