OK all you swingers out there!! I was talking to my instructor last night about our next showcase performance and I was telling him a few of my ideas about doing a Foxtrot / Triple Swing routine. Since I don't want to do a standard routine straight out of the studio syllabus, he suggested West Coast swing could be good too. Since I have never seen this, has anyone here got any clips that I can have a look at to see what I am getting myself in for? He took me through a few moves last night, and it seemed a bit sedate to me (though they were probably only beginner moves). :)
Anything to help me get the gist of what can be done would be great. 8)

Thanks for that SD. I don't really know the difference in swings, so the West Coast one is the only one I know for sure is what I am looking at!
I do like the "loose leg" look of the WCS clip there. I'm assuming that's a key feature to that style of dance? I'll do a quick google and see if I can find any more. Any other clips available, feel free to post them here.
Thanks guys.

No problem d_f. FYI, the "Classic," the "Strictly WestCoast," and the "Strictly Swing Non-Professional" are all WCS.

Thanks for the links guys. I have signed up for a West Coast Swing showcase routine so it is official. I showed some of these clips to my instructor and he was quite impressed and kept a copy of the links to get inspiration. He hasn't done WCS for a while, so using these to inspire him - it's gunna be good!!! :D

Sure thing SD. We started on it Monday night, and though I have a few basics OK (except for having a brain slip and doing a rock step from time to time!) trying to start on technique and proper lead and follow in those steps was a bit of a mess! First class, it's all good! We have six months to get it to click, choreographed and perfected so it should be OK.
