People that I've talked to who have crossed over into both WCS and Lindy have told me to their experience WCS was the harder of the two for them to learn. For those of you here who have done both was this the same for you or different?

My experience has been the opposite. I find lindy to be much harder to improve and excel at than west coast. As for which was easier to learn initially? I can't really say. But right now, and for the last couple years, west coast has had an easier learning curve than lindy.

Quite honestly, I find lindy hop more hard to learn. However, I turned hard core west coast during my transition from ecs dancer to westie/lindy hopper. Westie training took out several elements needed for good lindy. Not to mention, I have more of a westie mentality currently do the learning.

I think the two dances are of similar difficulty; however, I find Lindy harder when it comes to the bounce. I sometimes wonder if I'm too old to have any hope to get good at Lindy (30-something) :( . I suppose that explains why the Lindy crowd tends to be younger.
